Maybe I looked at the wrong profile, all I saw was Internet / Photoshop Whizzer style attempts at glamour ... oh well, not important ... Falater Photography wrote: Dec 05 10 07:37 am Link There is a demand for older models. Many advertisements require older models, yep you know the one's. Many films need moms, dads, grandparents etc. It's not about just take my pic and build my ego. I love the business, the travel and meeting new people. What is there not to love. Why get out just because one is older? Dec 05 10 07:48 am Link I enjoy working with older models, they seem to have more self-confidence and are generally are in pretty good shape. Dec 05 10 07:56 am Link Some of the most popular models on my site are the over-30 models. As long as they have the look, age really doesn't matter, and in some cases like with business-themed sets it can be an advantage. Dec 05 10 08:04 am Link Yes it's creatively fun to be able to still do artistic modeling at 42yo Dec 05 10 09:26 am Link Yeah, that's only true for fashion/agency, etc. Definitely NOT true for glamour, nude, or fetish, which are all valid types of modeling. The fashion industry as much as it likes to wallow in its own importance, doesn't have a lock on modeling. I'm making a fairly decent career out of this and I'm 43. I know the income I'm making isn't "pretend." Nor is the enjoyment I've been lucky enough to share with some truly talented photographers. Falater Photography wrote: Dec 05 10 10:47 am Link Mo is a perfect example. She is versatile enough to go from alternative modeling to lifestyle modeling, where as you point out, older models can have an advantage. GoldRoseMedia wrote: Dec 05 10 10:48 am Link I would suggest that anyone who has doubts about older models, check out my list: https://www.modelmayhem.com/list/297527 ALL of these women are over 40. And some of them are even in their 50s. Dec 05 10 10:49 am Link Sandra W wrote: Thanks for your list Sandra! I'll study it! I always was interested in modelling by hadn't really came into my looks until after I hit 30. Luckily for me I still look young, and if you didn't know you how old I was you would never guess. A little late to be starting in this industry but better late than never. Its been a blast!! Fabulous. Dec 05 10 03:28 pm Link I am an older model and have been doing this for a long time...more then half of my life. I think that the "standards" for models have opened up alot which is good...you used to have to pe perfect...skinny as a pole...at least 5 9....beauty comes in so many different shapes, sizes and colors....the expansion has allowed variety to paint MM and the modeling industry...I think its great Dec 05 10 03:38 pm Link LOVE older models! Dec 05 10 03:39 pm Link My Name is Free wrote: 27 is older????? Dec 05 10 03:40 pm Link You cango see a beautiful 50+ who's still working regularly at http://www.modelbrigade.com/index.php?p … _id=105095 She's also # 23558 on here. Dec 05 10 03:50 pm Link Gitte wrote: ...Or more marketable. At the end of WW II there was a surge of young couples with pent up savings to spend, and thus marketers started using younger models to advertise products. Now as the baby boomers become older, it makes sense that companies want a more mature look. Dec 05 10 03:51 pm Link blackviolet wrote: LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you're old ????????? NOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love your tattoos. I'm dying to work with you Dec 05 10 04:10 pm Link since when is 30 considered old ???????????? I have socks older than that Dec 05 10 04:17 pm Link Jon Erickson wrote: Hahaha, those are some oldass socks!! Dec 05 10 04:42 pm Link I would rather shoot models in there 30's or 40's than most in there 20's. I find that the older models with there years of experience are easier to work with and don't act like Divas and are very pleasant. But know that I am 51 myself and been involved in the photography & modeling industry for 30 years, longer than models in there 20's have been on this earth. Sure models in there 20's are younger, but push come to shove and I'm working in a tight time frame,I feel the older more experienced models will get the job done. Just my thoughts....... Dec 05 10 05:11 pm Link Oh,by the way,if any of you "older" models in the Nashville,Tn area would like to shoot, let's do it!! And show all these young models & photographers what we both are made of! Dec 05 10 05:55 pm Link I entered the "modeling world" late in life. I am now 37 yrs old. For me, I could not model when I was younger to many priorities. I was married and had my first child at 16. Another at 19 and the last one at 23! I am a very proud grandma to boot...Oh the SHOCK! I have lived most of my life in reverse...I was born old and grew young. The marraige may not have lasted but the kid's did...lol....I went back to school at 31 and now have my B.A. at 37 I am persuing my M.F.A My daughter is 21 yrs old thus, I have spent a lot of time around 20 something girls/models; none of which have the maturity, reliability or self confidence modeling requires. (That is just my experience with the few young models I know personaly...No stereo-typing intended) Another thing I have noticed regarding the younger generation: Many do not take very good care of themselves:( some even to the point of laziness! As far as age making one to "old for fashion" I would beg to differ....Us old people wear clothes to..ha,ha Just my unsolicited oppinion. Dec 06 10 07:18 am Link I'm hear becuzz my mommy tell'd me I'm purdy and I shud b uh modal. Dec 06 10 07:45 am Link Falater Photography wrote: I find this so funny when coming from the individual who posted it. It's one thing to hold onto semi-outdated high fashion industry standards, it's another to have many amateurish glamour images and headshots of models who look older than 30 and hold onto semi-outdated high fashion industry standards... Dec 11 10 08:44 pm Link lol....I just started because until a couple of years ago I did not think I had the looks, height, etc. It took someone else to encourage me to take a photo (a top fashion designer) and I am having a blast. On being a "Pretend model"......but of course. How do you think I create some of the looks that I do ? Isn't that what art is all about.....creating the illusion, the dream, the fantasy........? I don't think a "12" year old could do what I (and a few others) do and if they did everyone involved would be labeled a pervert and put in jail. Dec 11 10 08:50 pm Link As well I'm happy... https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/20636174 18+ that doing yoga has helped with flexible creative posing Dec 12 10 07:25 am Link Honi wrote: +1 Dec 12 10 07:35 am Link ;D Yaay! 46 (10/16/64) AndrewG wrote: Dec 12 10 07:44 am Link |
