Fine  go  right ahead  and laugh  -  but  if  you seriously  think  that the man  has  ANY  talent,  the joke is  on  you!

But  considering the  catch  phrase  of  the  21 century  "It's  all  good!"  I  am not suprised  smile

Still laughing at you.
If you don't think he has any photography skills then you obviously haven't looked at his complete body of work. And if you don't see his TALENT for interacting with his subjects and creating work with them that is unique and interesting then you're just clueless.

Yup. TR's talent is connecting with the most sought after models and gaining their trust and getting them to do stuff they wouldn't do for other photographers.
Fashion is NOT about slick, high production value, glossy photos (though many are done that way) the same as music doesn't always have to be over produced. It can be rough, raw and primal.

Give  me  a  break!  The  women  work  with  him,  because  first,  they are getting paid  to,  and second  because  a  bunch  0f  numskulls  think the  emperor has  clothes!

My  7 year  old  nephew  could  have  done  a better shot!  Seriously!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a big fan of personal responsibility.

That is  just another way of  saying  "I  think people should  be  able to get away with whatever they want  to! If  i  had  the power i'd be doing it to!"

One thing I always wondered. Who is taking the shots of him and the celebrities?

a  small  quote  from  one  of the  articles  previously listed, that  people  are ignoring:

"One fashion insider says agencies "know full well Richardson's predatory behavior," but that he "is tolerated because the industry folk are just sheep. There are only a handful of photographers who have the power, a handful of editors who have the power, and a handful of clients who have the power. Everyone else just follows this small group of people."

So  they  are  just a  bunch  of sheep  kissing ass,  and  pretending  the emperor  has  clothes on!

Wait. ANOTHER Terry Richardson thread? Can a mod just make a sticky about it and get it over with so people can go to one single place to rant about how much they dislike one particular person's style? I don't like One Direction but you don't see me going onto music forums ranting about it smile Everybody has different tastes. It's called human nature.

Silly question, it's because he makes the clients happy.  It's as simple as that, it's not difficult to understand.  Under promise and over deliver, give them more then they expected and they hire you again and again.

Well I have read enough complaining about him, I looked him up.  While I'll say his lighting is all over the place, sometimes he really hits it.  Looking through his diaries, I saw boobs, tongs, craziness, then all of a sudden something really beautiful.

He gets people to act crazy, in that he's unique and he was discovered.  The hardest part of art photography is establishing yourself apart from the masses, he has.  While he may not be my cup of tea, I can see why "he's made it".

edit:  While I say his lighting is all over the place, I mean compared to other "famous" portrait/fashion photographers.  Sometimes it is wow, sometimes kinda flat, sometime a bit hot etc.

Well that's a subjective point. Retouching doesn't sell everything, it's an enhancement most of the time...otherwise we call it deceptive advertising.

ina side note: it is not Dita Von Tess, might want to know who it is you admire.

Have you ever seen Terry Richardson's entire body of work or just his Terryworld type stuff? Honest question, since you have made the claim your 7yr old nephew could shoot better. Also I've noticed you do not claim you could do better, or state you already are. Is this an oversight or is your nephew truly that amazing?

cuz he shoots it.  Others think it, theirs ids desire it, their minds think it- he just shoots it.  Photography is NOT just about light.  I can teach any hourly employee how to light a set and be my lighting tech in a short time.

A photographer captures images that invoke reaction in an audience.

That you all are talking about it- is proof of his merit.  Most here would not have the courage to do what he does.  If you had X supermodel in front of your lens- would you dare to make her look ugly? or trashy? or different? or racy?  OR would you do something safe and pretty and expected?

Thats why you are you and he is him.

PS: Im not him either- one day I hope I grow a pair and become more like him.

Yeeha preach it!!

Well you did talk of your highly talented nephew, but we can't see his work, so maybe just trying to establish a base for what you consider good.

this  is  more  about  the concept  of  the emperor  having  no clothes on,  and people being  to  scared,  dumn,  weird,  or  numb  to acknoledge it,  than it is  about  one particular person... or  at least it is  for  me  smile

Is it the drugs, the fame, the sex or just being able to rape underage models that all you TR fans aspire to?

He does some very cool work, no doubt.

Being part of the in crowd and his industry contacts is totally due to his father.

The man's a total scumbag.
