I'm not sure.

I don't understand why one needs to attend a seminar to find out information about getting signed to agencies.  Maybe acting classes if you want to sign to a talent agency and offer them more than just a face for print work (since some do that).

But really, I'd think you'd be better off saving the time and just going into the open calls at agencies.  They'll either love your look and stats, or you won't be what they're looking for.

I have a feeling it's going to be one of those "this part was free but if you want to learn more you'll have to attend X, Y and Z and pay us more".  They'll either try to sell you more classes, seminars or photos you don't need and won't do you any good anyway.

There's lots of great info at www.newmodels.com that might help you out with deciding whether this is worth it or not.

ETA: FWIW, I would personally stay far away from this.

ask around I'm quite sure more than 20 people got the same deal. It's a scam, you just have to wait for the other shoe to drop to see how much it's going to cost you.

Doesn't sound legit to me. I am not exactly sure how the scam works (unless they demand money form you when you get there), but If I were you, I would disregard this.

Chances are, they'll rope him into buying more classes, photo sessions, or other useless crap that they say he *needs* in order to be signed.

When in reality, the only thing he needs to do is walk into the agencies' open calls and find out if they're interested.  If they are, they'll sign him.  If not, he'll get turned away (sometimes, without a reason).

That'll be $250 please I'm so great I just gave you that advice for free!

OP, you are doing the right thing in your avatar, taking that orange dunce cap off your head.  Now do another smart thing and stay away from that seminar.

You might want to just go to open calls with polaroids, and bring a 9x12 book to casting calls, instead of investing in comp cards.

That way, if you do get signed, and the agency doesn't like the shots you have chosen for your comp cards, you're not out the money you spent on both the old ones, and the new ones they'll have you order (and possible even pay to shoot for).

Just food for thought.
