Looks like I'm going to start flying again, but outside the airplane instead of inside. My lovely wife got me this RC Champ for Christmas. This I can afford. No gas, it has an electric motor. I actually flew a Champ way back when on my 50th birthday. I logged about 3 hours, not enough to master the intricacies of flying a tail-dragger. I reckon I'll get that mastery flying this little guy...

Happy New Year everyone. Unless I can drum up some real support this may be my last post to this thread. Since the Orlando Chit Chat thread has been abandoned for Facebook (just a fad, you know, that Facebook), I have tried to keep this thread afloat. Thanks to those few who occasionally stop by and post. SOS, Wolfie, JoeyK, Herblish, Carl Roberts, and Orias. Orias your recent appearance has been a bright spark of light in this dark hole of a thread. I think we've done all we can do here and it's probably time to move on. Myself? I guess I'll be moving over to the Tampa thread. A lot of folks I know over there still. In the meantime I'll look in occasionally to see if there is any activity or information to pass on. So long for now. Clear skies and tail winds...

yeah unfortunately facebook allows anyone to get quick and easy praise and attention. its all quantity vs quality. post 300 pics there to your port or 20 here. the 20 here will have to be tip top for proper review from those interested in working with you... but the 300 facebook/tumblr photos will get you a lot of likes and a lot of one word comments to stroke your ego i love facebook, twitter, tumblr etc.. as good networking tools since i can get acquainted with people out of state and hen go work with them later. however those sites shouldnt ever be taken that seriously as an industry reflection tool as there clearly arent any standards, filters, or accountability there. as far as this thread being inactive... well the orlando area in this field is certainly pretty active so maybe someone connected to everyone can help rejuvenate their interest. the tampa group is only marginally active compared to what it used to be... 5 years ago and prior this was a much tighter knit community (florida photography in general not just through the social portal of mm) , but its somewhat fallen apart now and most people would rather let the drama finish the demolition than work together for a common goal. its my personal belief that i dont have to agree with someones political views, their food choices, their friend choices, the domestic life, their past...in order to create or discuss beautiful imagery with them. The more things in common we might be more compatible as friends, but i dont have to be best friends with my colleagues... i just like to have a compatible goal with them and mutual understanding to get there shrugs

joeyk wrote: That's putting it mildly... haha true some people arent as popular as they used to be here. if they dont get enough attention then this site loses its purpose to their internet facade. some people arent as friendly as they used to be, letting small issues in the past remain big issues in their future. some people want to seem busier than they are. Some people havent done much photography recently and dont want to be called out on it by others posting cool stuff from shoots and them not. Some people left on principle but wont come back because of ego. Some people only like to socialize upwards to schmooze their way to bigger connections so if those arent publicly advertised in a group they will chat elsewhere. They're not interested in being personable or amazing artists, they're interested in winning some fictitious prize. Some people think that by socializing with someone on there, then they're gonna start asking you for favors to shoot them or shoot with them for free, etc. some people dont know how to have friends because they're insecure and have to treat everyone like competition. Some people are manipulative skanks that have nothing better to do than ride others coattails and get them to pay their way and dont care which friends they have to falsely pit against eachother, who they have to lie about to feel justified, who is of no longer use to their ego so they can fabricate a reason to not have them around anymore, as long as they feel like they're getting ahead and further from their own trashy psychotic past lol. Some people still pretend this is their passion when their passion left their art a long time ago and they refuse to find a new muse to re-ignite it or venture into a new hobby all together... So when they do must, its monotone and not inspiring to get others excited to post. and the list goes on... the tampa group has seen it all and im sure the orlando group has gone through all this as well its shitty, but it happens. Hopefully people are smart enough to remember the positive and think about their future over their past

Lemme land this thing. I'll stick around for a while yet. In the meantime let's get topical. Let's talk about stuff. As far as I am concerned no topics are off limits, as long as the mods don't get upset. I'll start off. Who cares what Phil Robertson thinks? Why are we wasting time even wondering what goes on inside his demented little head? He lives in a bayou and makes duck calls. Who the frak cares...

Booze and pictures always seemed a good topic. And on that note, if you like Spiced rum (rhum for SOS), Siesta Key spiced is awesome. Made in a little boutique distillery here in Sarasota. They give tours and samples. Should make a trip this way when they have one, SOS.

Becoming what they use to ridicule and name call others of doing/being.. And while no one is perfect, though some around have begun to think their defecal matter lacks odor, the amount of hypocrisy that some have shown has been quite stunning... And unfortunately, I think that has created the demise, for lack of better term, of the two chit chat threads.. With that said, who's buying the drinks and who's showing the boobies??? *for gods sake I hope it's not Joey and SOS showing the boobies... *
