Welcome to the 5th LIST - Mentors in Makeup
The 5th LIST provides aspiring MUAs with two important resources.
Firstly, a list of skilled makeup artists who are willing to mentor, instruct, or advise other mua's who are wanting such help.
And secondly, by viewing the portfolios of the Mentors, newbies can learn a great deal about what makes a top MUA.
To find a Mentor
1. Check the below list to see if there is a Mentor in your area
2. If there is, send a message to the Mentor telling them what help you are after. The Mentor will get back to you, telling you if they are able to help, and if so, how to proceed.
3. If there is not a Mentor local to you, put a request on this thread, and check back regularly as the Mentors list is regularly updated.
Any members willing to offer their assistance would be most welcome. Please note that we will carry out the simple vetting procedure of inspecting the volunteer’s portfolio and profile to ensure that their work is of a 'standard'. The volunteer will then be informed if they have been accepted, and then their details will be added to the appropriate part of the list as soon as practicable.
What does it take to be a Mentor?
It takes someone with:
1. ..an in depth knowledge of their industry
2. ..the willingness to share their knowledge with others
3. ..patience, and an understanding of what it is like to be a newbie
If you are assisted by a Mentor, it would be good to show your appreciation by adding a message to this thread. This will also encourage others needing help to seek out a Mentor.
WHEN POSTING EITHER A REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE, OR AN OFFER TO BECOME A MENTOR, PLEASE STATE YOUR INTENTIONS CLEARLY! _____________________________________
*These lists are updated as frequently as possible, but usually not immediately.
Constructive suggestions are helpful and appreciated.
THANKS!
We would very much appreciate if you would also support the 2nd and 3rd LISTs. Click on the emblems below to visit the thread.

I'm not sure if the mentors will be checking in this thread that often. Check out the list posted. Luckily you have a ton of mentors in California so go ahead and message them with specific inquiries. I'm so glad MM has this program in place...I've gotten very valuable advice from a local artist that I wouldn't have been able to get from anyone else!
Also thinking it would be a good idea for the MUA Mentors to check in at least every few months to let them know they're still available & active on MM (maybe 3-4 months?)
I'm currently available all over the SF Bay area (SF, Peninsula, East bay, South bay, sometimes the valley) and Reno areas. I do travel for my work other places, and available also to lend a helping hand via PM.
Hello hello! Unfortunately I am not able to mentor in London anymore, can my location be moved to San Antonoio Texas please? I live here now if anybody from Austin needs mentoring I'll be happy to help. We are just a hour away!

If you're in Southern California (near Orange County) this group offers Discussion groups, workshops and even free seminars for MUA/H.

Thanks everyone for your inquiries. I'm not able to tend to the thread for at least a few more days but we will get everything rocking again soon!! In the meantime, keep the cards and letters coming!!
Hi, Most of you know me from the 'Of the Week' contests and the Original Pic of the Day. I'm the goto guy for the next few weeks while Craig is on sabbatical . We have a few things in the works and for the time being I'll be the collector of the posts and answerer of the notes. Send your mentor correspondence to me and we'll see about resolving issues during this planning period.
Thanks
BeeCee
