Adam,

Hello. Thanks for the 'like' on facebook!

Overall, your portfolio is good. You had a decent amount of variety but I would've liked to see more. Some of your pictures take away from the presentation of others. I would remove some of the duplicate(same shoot/look/set) pictures. Try to select the absolute best image from any given shoot/look/set. Also, you seem to have an overall control of lighting but some of your images display flat. There are many techniques, as I'm sure you are already quite aware of, that will assist in the visual creation of depth within any given image.

If shooting in the studio, and if you have enough physical lights and/or reflectors to do so, try to separate your subject from the background. If shooting on-location, try to use enough light modification as to allow for more contouring and thus appearance of 'depth' in the image. Now, of course, dof and all the other photographic elements must be accounted for as well.

I read your bio and understand your intention of shooting for pleasure; this is the best place to be when involving yourself in photography, no matter the level. Keep at it. Your many years in television will undoubtedly aid in the creation of great images, and further fuel your passion for the art.

Please let me know if you upload any new images that you would like for me to take a look at. As, I only viewed your non-nude images.

Best regards,

Your portfolio is good. I always can appreciate variety as I'm sure ad agents do. You  transition well from catalogue-type shots to more traditional lifestyle shots; this is a good trait to showcase your versatility in modeling. I really appreciated your bio too. You seem professional and this is vital when working with established clients. I would like to see some beauty shots. You have great eyes that I think would work well with the right team of beauty professionals. The only thing that I would suggest, with regards to your portfolio, is to eliminate some of your duplicate images(images from the same set/shoot) because these sometimes take away from the other pictures. Also, study, study, study...I'm sure you already do this but study the industry that you want to enter. You mentioned high-fashion so dive deep into that world and study how the women/girls 'look' and are 'looking'. This is important. Overall you port, again, was good. Keep at it! Let me know if I can be of any help at all.

Ashlei,

Hello. Thanks for the 27 and the 'like'! smile

Your portfolio is good. It's limited, as you are just starting out, but still good. I would suggest that you really practice your body awareness. I'm sure you already do these things but just to reinforce it: pose in the mirror, have someone even shoot you with your camera phone so you will have reference, look in fashion publications and see how women are posing(from the top of their head to the tip of their toes), and just become a student of modeling. Body awareness, and body mechanics are essential elements for any professional model. Your poses are a little too tight. Again, your portfolio overall is good. Please let me know if you need any help or critique on future images. Keep at it Ashlei!

Elena,

Your portfolio is good. Most of your images, of course, are swimsuit and are overall of good quality; however, there are some that are not of high enough quality to bolster the images that are. Further, there are too many of the same type of images with regards to: angles, wardrobe, lighting, and mood. Now, this is OK sometimes but I feel that it's best to display and show your book with only the absolute best images that you can. Also, unless you already know that you only want to venture into swimsuit modeling, perhaps a variation of modeling would elevate your portfolio as well and illustrate diversity. Beauty work could work for you as well as certain types of fashion perhaps.

I read your bio and understand that you are modeling part-time, but do you already have a focus area that you would like to enter?

(((chace)))

Thanks for your advice. I am studying Public Health graduating end of the year. Then going to do my masters degree...and then ???? I really love modelling I took a 2 year gap before starting university. I live in South Africa so its not so easy to get the exposure one needs to go far.I am still waiting for my big break!!!! You never know:) smile

I have liked....

Hi Im a professional retoucher by trade but would like to take up photography especially boudoir.

The shots in my profile were taken with a cheap bridge camera at a friends house with natural light and retouched by myself.

Any comments good or bad would be gratefully appreciated.

kind regards

Thanks for the 'Like' and my apologies for such a delayed critique!

You some diversity with regards to your images, which is good. At 5'11 runway seems fitting, but perhaps a bit tall for fitness. My biggest advice for you would be to practice, practice, practice. This is particularly true with respect to posing and overall body mechanics. Sometimes, runway models don't translate well into print models and the reverse; so, if you are also interested in print then practicing posing is important.

Your images are good, but of course there is always room for improvement. Please let me know if you ever have any other questions!

Thanks again, and keep at it!

Your port is good. I'm most impressed by your series of creative images, I believe there are 3. It seems like you have a handle on lighting, overall composition, and colour. My primary advice would be to push yourself and always aim to create an image that the viewer will have an experience with; this is especially true if you are interested in commercial-type work.

Keep at it!
