I remember reading a few years back about some fishermen catching the oldest known living creature... A lobster. I think they figured it to be something like 400yrs old. They killed it.
Oh.. and I wonder what the legal ramifications would be about killing a guy in a big foot costume. Could you legally claim you thought it was Big Foot?

The hunter would probably get off with a slap on the wrist. Fatal hunting accidents are pretty common with very few folks ending up in jail. About a year ago a hunter here in Virginia accidentally shot and killed his 12 year old nephew - no charges filed. My favorite hunting accident involved the outdoor writer for the local newspaper who was wounded while up in a deer stand by a "hunter" who mistook him for a deer.
The game warden would probably take one look at the dead guy in the Bigfoot costume and conclude, "He needed killing."

"I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry, and that's extra to me. There's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside. Run, he's fuzzy, get out of here."

And of course there was that incident with former Vice President (and still current dick head) Dick Cheney.

It wouldn't be the oldest, there's plenty of biologically immortal species. A type of jellyfish being one. But it uses transdifferentiation, so it may not count. I'm gunna look it up now(-:
