Aeni will also be attending.
Nix has a class....
Hopeing for a good show.... looking forward to how the expanded Pro hours on Friday go.
Would be nice to see Aeni again....though I am HORRIBLE at remembering faces with names! Would be nice to meet your family too! I have to figure out how to make it happen....I'm already missing FABAIC again, and I need to get some inspiration and the line on NEW STUFF somewhere!
Well, there is a great reason to attend. Meeting you there last time was sort of like going on an LA tour with Ellen DeGeneres or a rock star or something. Everyone makes way for you, treats you nice, and surprises abound!
Most of you are eligible for our Gold Make-Up Artist Pro Card which will get you in the show for free plus other awesome perks. Don't wait until the last minute to get one. My staff gets buried right before the show : http://makeupmag.com/pro/
I will post some more cool news soon.

Tours of Oscar winner, Jeff Dawn's Pegasus fabulous make-up trailer.
....and other developments that I can't talk about yet.
As always our editorial team will be looking at portfolios at the After Glow party Saturday night following the show. We are looking for artist and photo stories to publish in future issues.
I want to go really bad! But I can't this year....one of the things I regret is not being able to go to the IMATS when I lived out there. Actually a lot of events...Its hard to find stuff in Texas.
I am tempted to go but depending on time.
Last night I met Randy Daudlin and he was friendly and very talented. I forgot to ask him if he was going to go to the show. I think his work was recently published in the the magazine.
This is the first year I can make it to LA. I'm from Seattle and have been to Vancouver the last 2 years. Pretty cool being part of the first few years there. It's an awesome show but I'm excited to see how massive LA is compared to Vancouver. Most excited about the pro-only hours. Can't wait to meet some amazing artists!
I will be there. It's my first year going so I'm thinking of trying to go in with a game plan haha.
I started my applicaton for the MakeupMag Pro card a while back and finally got more papers and sent them in a couple weeks ago. So HOPEFULLY I can get all my shopping out of the way on Friday and maybe take classes on Saturday/Sunday.
I have a question for all of you. I was thinking of just going for Friday if I got the pro card. My reasoning was I don't do very well in situations that involve a ton of parents&their kids (a couple bad concert experiences scarred me, and this is a shopping event so my black friday scares are coming in too). So, if I get my shopping done Friday I will only be around other people in the field versus the general public. However, I want to use this event for networking and education.
SO HERE'S THE QUESTION ------> Should I just suck it up and go 2-3 days or should I try to network my butt off on Friday and move on?
Also, does anyone recommend going all days and why?
I've not seen the "pro days" in action (and probably won't get to this year because of a job on Friday)
HOWEVER, while there were considerable crowds on Saturday and Sunday, it was not like the place was crawling with children. Also, the various contests, presentations, and classes given all weekend long were a major inspiration for me.
Still, if you have a phobia of crowds... maybe Friday is your best bet.

Ill be presenting for Yaby on Sat in the morning
I'll be there! I desperately need help with down sizing my kit and I think learning to use the tools I already have in a more efficient way will definitely help.

By "kids" I was referring to children of all ages (but mostly teens), but thank you for that note. I think what may happen is I will buddy-system this event. If I can't handle it, I can just leave early haha.

Rich it has actually gotten quite scary for people who can't deal with crowds. I brought my Mom last year and people were shoving her out of their way and being very rough. I would say if you don't like crowds go on Friday.
I will be there on Saturday covering for the LA Weekly
If you're a pro and RSVP for the pro event, you can bring 1 guest. Other than that, you can't get in without your pro card.
And in case you didn't know - this year the FX vendors and student competition are in a different area. The competition will not be held on the main stage area like the last 3 years.
I just got a last minute job for Saturday. I COULD sub it out, but that would take $300 out of my pocket, add to that the airfare (no time to drive this time), taxi, hotel, tickets, and food and it would cost me well over $1000 to make it. While I had a REALLY great time last time, I just can't justify that sort of expense right now.
If y'all get together and have some fun, please raise a glass for me. I'll be wishing I was there (while I paint for a bunch of wealthy 13 year olds!)
:< That makes me sad Rich. I was hoping to meet you (among other MMers)
I e-mailed MakeupArtist Mag about the Pro card and seeing if I had to turn in more paperwork and they told me "We're actually sending out your card today" So YAAAY! I can handle the shopping on Friday and then add more networking and seminar/classes on Sat/Sun. I'm super excited.
So here's a question for those of you who are going:
Do you have a plan on what booths to hit and what products you're looking out for?
Off the top of my head I'm looking at getting some Yaby products and some more brushes. Any suggestions on brushes that are soft, pick up product well, and do not shed like crazy?
The brushes I have in my belt are MUD, e.l.f., bdellium (one), Urban Decay (three), and Jane Iredale (one).
nvm, I'm looking at inmykit and getting ideas. I need to feel these brushes out in person, but this definitely helped narrow down the list.

I'm going for sure. It's one of the best trade shows for our industry. Not to mention they have great prices, awesome speakers (I bought my ticket just to go see Donna Mee --> She's AMAZING!) and we get to network!

I'm still waiting for my Pro-card... can't wait to get it so I can start shopping too... ;(
As for what booths, when I go to conventions or shows, I start visiting ones I shopped and see what's offered and what prices. Because I am familar with the prices, this will give me an idea of the markup/markdown and if it's worth it. Sometimes it's cheaper at the store than show.
This is also a great opportunity to expore other booths and check out other products.
