Outside of the generalizing part, my late old man was around 5'9". He never had that problem with women at all. The women loved him and he loved the women. Not all women want tall men and not all men want short women. A lot of it is in the attitude and how you present yourself. Look at "Prince" as an example. For several decades, women lusted after this guy. Going back to the late 70's, 80's 90's to present. This is a 54 yr old guy now and the women much younger still lust after him.

I haven't read what anyone else said, but here's my thing about dating : I'm the  type who likes to slightly lean over or whatever you want to call it, to kiss my girl, I want to be able to put my arm around her, not have her put her's around me. Plus I don't want to have to look up at someone who I'm dating.

I've dated a range of heights' A few of my exs were my height or alittle taller. My current boy friend is 6' 4" and a whole foot taller then me.

It works great though because it's always easy to find him at an Asian grocery store.

i'm 6' and can never find a guy taller than me. of course i love my super tall heels, but most men have a problem with you being taller. it takes away their masculinity when they have to look up to you. poor things. most guys i can find are about 6ft but i want a really tall man. my ex is 6'4 and loved it when i wore heels. (he had a little fetish so it worked perfectly.) i have had a guy tell me if we got married i wasn't allowed to wear heels to my wedding! HA right. i prefer men 6'3 or over, but do you know how hard it is to find a DECENT guy that tall?

I dated a girl who is 5'11 and with her 4/5  inch heals she was taller than me, but she looks mad sexy with heals on so I loved it. And frankly no one should ever tell you to not wear footwear because they get butthurt about you being taller in them.

To be honest, I never thought about it much.

It annoys me when a GF hurts herself for the sake of appearance.  If/when I love a woman, I tend to love her soul and not just how she looks, and all the brouhaha intended to change/improve her appearance is just lying.

I'm about 6 feet tall.  In my day, I dated two different woman who were 6'4".  One was a bit ashamed about her height -- she wore flats, hunched herself over, and preferred to kiss me on the stairs, so that I could stand on a higher step; the other was proud of her height (as an alternate in the USA Olympic basketball team) and did nothing to hide her height.  I liked the second one better.

I like tall women, although my experience with tall women in groups has some odd observations

by tall im' talking 5'7+ in 3-4inch heels. So I encounter 6'2, 6'3 looking girls a lot.

So alot of girls like to people watch, but when a group of talls girls are people watching I definitely notice! They are probably the same as shorter girls, but I really don't notice short girls. Like my eyesight doesn't go below 5'7 unless there is something exceptional physically about a girl. As soon as the 5'4 girl wears 3" heels though, I'm thinking "wow who is that beauty" and turns out she's being working with me for the past year.

Eh. I'm 5' 10", my wife's just slightly over six feet tall. She hates high heeled shoes.

My first serious, long-term relationship was with a girl who was just barely 5'. She loved high heels.

The common attributes that really stand out are "bombshell" proportions and really strong, complex personalities (translation: opinionated weirdos); height is incidental.

Using famous people is a bad example... just saying..

Anyone with money and power would be exempt from that 'generalization'... but that's all what it is.. I was speaking "Generally". We all know there are exceptions to every rule.

I'm pretty sure, Bill Gates would have no problem dating... he WOULD have a problem finding a woman that actually likes him for him and not his money/power.

Lastly.. I'm just going by my personal experiences.. I have been turned down more times because of my height then anything else. (I'm 5'5").

From my experience, "Nice" isn't really something I hear women say they want in a man... "Tall, Dark, and Hansom" is the general outline of what I hear a lot of girls say.

In all actuality.. I really don't care that much... Everyone has their thing that they are attracted to... as much as people don't want to be "shallow"... people are drawn to who they are attracted to.. Women are no exception.

I don't prefer guys taller than 6'1. too tall. But I have no dating height requirements, some men just feel like their balls shrink when I wear heels near them. erh

Did you read the entire post before replying? Last that I'd checked, my father wasn't famous. He was the first person that I'd brought up in my post. He was famous with the women, but he wasn't famous aka celebrity. Look, it goes back to how you present yourself and what attracts that person. My old man never had any problems getting women. Both tall and short.

Height isn't a major issue IMO, however I've always preferred guys just a little taller than me. Anywhere from 5"6 - 5"10 is great. My fiance doesn't mind when I wear heels either

Ha! I'm 5'7" and once dated a woman for five years who was 6' tall! We had fun with all the stares and whispers we got! And yes, when we went out she would occasionally wear heels (albeit 2-inch heels;-)

You are right.. I missed the part about your father.

But I also didn't say that there weren't exceptions to the rule..

Go through this thread... majority of the women prefer men taller...

No one said short men cannot date or would have a problem dating.. I just said personally I have been shot down more times because of my height then any other reason...

same with height. would I prefer a taller guy if I could choose? sure. doesn't mean a short guy can't sweep me off my feet smile

I'm 6'1" and have always preferred taller women.  I've mostly dated taller women.  Tallest I've dated was 5'10" and it was great.  Tallest I've danced with was 6 foot and that was cool too.  I guess I don't like bending over so much to carry on a conversation.  Don't know, it's just personal preference.  Shortest woman I've had a thing for was 5'2" by her own admission, but she was really cute.

I'm the same height as your boyfriend, and most of the women that interest me are only interested in guys that are five or six inches taller than them.

To most women I'm 'short'.  smile

No reading between the lines, please. lol

I have no issues at all with women that are taller than me, with or without heels. Doesn't bother me a bit.

That made me chuckle.  I had an ex-bf tell me recently that I was too thin and that he really liked my body better when I was a size bigger.  Mind you we dated 13 years ago and I was 125lbs, size 6... today I fluctuate between 120 to 126 and between size 2 and 4 (size/weight fluctuates based on whether or not I have more or less sugar/carb intake).

I have never really put much thought into height with a guy... guess because for the most part, they're going to be at least a few inches taller than me in general.  I did really crush on this one guy that was 5'6" but he wouldn't date me - said he couldn't handle my having better hair, better skin and wearing high heels. :-(

I think different men have different preferences, and one bodytype isn't better than the other. it's just different. I also think a lot of those preferences are not written in stone; like I said, it's not because a guy usually likes thin girls that he can't really like a bigger one. My current boyfriend has dated all sort of bodytypes, and although he thinks they are all beautiful... he also told me that to cuddle and hold and hug, it's nicer when the girl has a little bit of "fluff".
but it really comes down to preferences, I think...

Anna, I completely agree and understand.  I've dated all sizes and weights.  I've dated super fit athletes to a guy who was 6'5" and almost 400 lbs.  The super fit, cut guys are nice to look at but at the end of the day, between the sheets, they're too hard to snuggle up to... I like some "fluff" to cuddle up to myself.  my friends used to tease that I was a "chubby chaser" ... lol

I actually prefer your regular average geeky/nerdy guys.  Of course, the love of my life that I'm friends with I tease as being an assassin CPA.... he travels to take mercenary and martial art classes and boxes and would love to do some UFC type stuff.

hah, I've dated all sorts of guys as well big_smile. from a very skinny short guy to a superfit bodybuilder (insane body... like a greek statue, but bigger). but at the end of the day, the one I'm most pleased with is the bodytype of my boyfriend: broad, but with a little bit of meat to cuddle next to big_smile. and I LOVE rubbing his belly, it's got the perfect amount of softness. I would not be happy if he ever got a sixpack big_smile
