Just cuz someone is shorter than his girl, doesnt mean she can kick his ass unless she is built like Urlacher.  The first fight I was in I jumped off a chair to break a douches nose.

It's never been a problem for me or anyone I've ever dated.

I dont date anyone shorter than me either, we aint shetland ponies.

supposedly women on online dating sites commonly take an inch or two off their height. according to one woman the guys who have to find their mates through online dating tend to be on the shorter side.

My bf is only a few inches taller than me, and I'm fond of heels. But with 4-5 inch heels on my birthday he still ended up taller than me.

He was sad before he put his shoes on tho(-: It does look a little in natural, but only because I'm so used to being shorter. As long as he's okay with it, and he should be, what you wear Is your decision, then you should be fine(:

I'm 6 feet.  I have to admit that I'm a bit nervous being close to really small/short woman (e.g. < 5'3") -- I just feel that anyone that small is too fragile to, umm, "wrestle" with me.

But other than that, I have no problems.  In my day, I've dates two different women who were 6'4 - 6'5.  One was a basketball player, and both of us were fine with the disparity.  The other was a bit self-conscious -- she always wore flats, and like to kiss me on the steps (with me on a higher step); she also slouched a lot.  That wasn't good -- she needed a taller boyfriend.

I'm 5'11 - which is 6'2 on a night out - and have dated awesome men ranging from 5'8 to 7 ft.

It's only an issue when the guy makes it an issue - and men with a lack of self confidence come in all sizes.

I'm not so tall, but I LOVE very tall men. I like to look down-up my boyfriend even when I have very high heels. I'm a quite self confident woman, but I like to feel protect when I'm with my boyfriend, It is like take a rest from responsability.

PS 173 cm average high in Italy? Are you kidding? For both men and women I hope, here most of the girls are 5 cm smaller than me.

I have a niece who is 5' 13" because she refuses to be six feet tall.  She was always self-conscious about her height, but she has now married a guy 6' 5" and will now even wear heels.

I've heard that for rule of thumb, your adult height will be twice that on your second birthday.  If that holds true, their older son will end up 6' 7".

I'm not vain about a whole lot (I have been called a chubby chaser on a few occasions - haha) but that's one of my few physical requirements. Decent skin... not gross teeth.... taller than me. A good personality takes care of the rest. I still feel vain when I see a tall girl/short guy couple and think "nnnnnope!"

My man has to be taller than me, even when I'm wearing heels.  There's something completely feminine (to me) about having a tall man bend over me to kiss me.

My boyfriend and I are the same height (5'9), I wear heels. I like my height, hes comfortable with himself, thus no one else seems to have a problem with it. I think its about confidence and how you carry yourself.

I REALLY don't understand it when girls/guys say they wouldn't date someone who wasn't at least this height/who was no taller than this height, does it really matter that much? Would you REALLY not go out with someone who was otherwise lovely, just because you worry about what other people think about your height difference? It's ridicously shallow.

For me, it has absolutely nothing to do with what others think.  It's my preference.  I need a man who's taller than me.  Period.  You don't need to understand it.  If you think that's shallow...have at it.

At 5'6", I'm one of the taller members of my family - all of my sisters are five feet tall or under.  Almost all the women I've ever dated have been taller than I am.  I once dated an Asian woman who was taller than me!!!  My current girlfriend is almost six feet tall.  No problems.

I find it more important that he is physically stronger, that's non-negotiable for me.

Height is a plus, not a requirement since there just aren't enough men taller than 6'2 out there for a tall woman without seriously limiting her prospects.

The comment wasn't aimed specifically at you, by the way. It just seems sad to rule out so many people on height alone, even if they were good looking, strong, charming, kind... I think you have to take people as more of a package. I was with a 6'4 guy beforehand, and a 6' guy before that. I feel no less feminine or protected with my 5'9 boyfriend now. *shrugs* Thats just me I guess.

I thought I was ok with dating someone shorter than me...I tried. I prefer my partner to be taller than me. It's a power and dominance thing I guess, love having to look up at my husband, and tippy toe to hug or kiss him. I'm weird what can I say. Plus I can wear heels without worrying I will hover over him like the jolly green giant.

I've dated shorter guys and I've dated taller guys. It doesn't matter to me... but in my experience, it's always the guy who ends up not being able to handle it.

If I could choose, I'd go for a taller guy.

that being said... I've been watching game of thrones lately, and there's this dwarf actor... if there was a man kind of like him... his character is funny, and very intelligent, confident, and a great lover, and he has a very handsome face, I'd certainly be intrigued smile.
(and not in a freaky "oh I have to try this" kind of way, but just genuinely intrigued)

oh man... at 5'9 the height game blows!! I like to feel small next to a guy, and I like a guy who is confident in himself to not get insecure with me wearing heels and being over 6 foot! smile

I had my share of 6' guys that were very unhappy with me wearing anything other than flats, but lucky for me- my 6'4 hubby has no problem with it! smile

Average height for women in most countries is 5'2 to 5'6 so it's understandable why 5'9 is tall to most people.

I had an ex who straight up told me I could not wear heels. To my own grad. No offense but who has the right to tell a girl what to wear on a big day like that? My boots weren't even that tall. They had about an inch heel to them. I wore them anyway but it was still a total piss off. My current boyfriend is pretty much my height and doesn't complain when I wear shoes that make me taller than him so that's a plus. I honestly think if guys are gonna complain about your foot wear then they should just go find a shorter girl.

My current beau is 5'6 on a good day, and I'm 5'3/5'4.

It doesn't bother mer.  As for him, he's a bit torn on the whole heels thing.  He loves me in them, but doesn't love the idea of me being taller than him when we're out.

That being said, he doesn't complain, and it hasn't been an issue.

And that's basically how I feel about it.  I don't mind dating a short guy whatsoever...as long as they don't come between me and my shoes.
