I've fought off using one since I love physical books so much, but my dad gave me his, so I filled it with goodness. Wish me luck! I hope I like to use it.
If it does happen, let me know. My fiancee wants one now since he's seen how much more I read with it. The only fall back is the "power down anything with an off and on switch" time on the plane.
I had a couple of kindles when they first came out. The little one first and the DX later. I absolutely LOVED them for reading. I read quite a few books on them. The display is crisp and incredibly easy to read and the device is very light. The downsides were the page turn times which I found mildly annoying. The only reason I don't use one now is because once the iPad came along I could read and do more all in one device. It's not really easy to read on the iPad in full daylight (unlike the Kindly which is perfect in those conditions) but I don't really do that much anyways.

I'm already mildly annoyed at the page turning. lol

I will admit that Mark Twain's 760 page (part 1), autobiography would have been easier on a Kindle, but I think it would have been less of an experience.

My last vacation I read 5 books on my iPad. I only had to carry the weight of one of them. Not having to look for books at the local book exchange (we were in a tiny south pacific island) was wonderful. I was even able to download new books when I was there. When I first got my kindle I had a very early morning stopover at an airport. The outbound flight was delayed. Nothing was open. I just downloaded a new book and started reading. That experience alone sold me on my future as an e-reader. I do like sitting with a paper book and paging through (it's hard/impossible to flip back through an ebook to find something you saw earlier) but as a traveller the ebook is a godsend. I've kept only my most treasured books in my collection and do re-read them from time to time. But all new purchases for the last few years have been e-books.

I guess I would need to try before having a firm opinion. Who knows, I might change my mind... I'm still hesitant.

My Kindle Fire was a birthday present to myself. I don't have a lot of books on it yet but I downloaded all of my MP3 purchases from Amazon.com to it and plug it into my car stereo.

Bingo, I love being able to have several books at my finger tips when ever I need them. That being said I still do love books. I have a very small collection of books that are special to me.. I do plan on having that collection grow.
I guess I am old fashion I like my leather bound and paper back books.
Lets see you read your fancy magical book machine when the power is out and your battery dies. I will be reading my books by candle light and you can just suck it.
Don't get me wrong I love gadgets and tech, but it just seems pointless to drop boku bucks on a gizmo that just displays PDF files that I have to buy when I can drop the same amount to by a computer that allows me to get and read those same files for free.
I would miss books and all the fond memories of being a young nerd in middle school weighing only 90lbs and carrying a backpack full of books that weighed about 80lbs.....sigh.
