This picture is stunning.
Now I'm sure it is the photographer who picks the story or idea behind the photos, does that mean the MUAs try to see the photographers vision or interperate it on their own?
I suppose I'm curious how much freedom the MUA has to create.
Was this color scheme picked out before hand, or is it improvised as one goes?
Concept - including color, prosthetic, lighting & pose - drives the broad strokes of most of my work including this image. This particular image was a proof of concept - so things did evolve spontaneously such as keeping the ear covered by the bald cap.
There has to be a reasonable amount of flexibility on the day of the shoot, but Client's don't pay us for wild and crazy experimentation, but rather our ability to deliver on the Concept that has been approved.
At the end of the day, we're Commercial Artists.
If we want to "play around", that's on our own time. But, my style rarely lends itself to spontaneous explosions of free-form creation.
