The most anticipated rematch is taking place at UFC 148 (hopefully, with the recent run of injuries, i'm not too confident any fight will actually take place when originally planned).
Their last fight was Epic. For the most part, Silva was ineffective with this game plan of keeping the fight standing and KOing Sonnen. Sonnen, on the other hand, was very effective in his gameplan = get the fight to the ground and ground pound / control superior position on the mat.
Seeing how the fight played out, if you are the fighter / camp, which changes would you implement?
Anderson: I would have Anderson stay at a distance and fight a very Carlos Condit vs Nick Diaz type of fight. Keep Sonnen at a distance and pick your shots = Jab, jab, Jab and out or jab, leg kick, jab and out. (in B4 running jokes, we all know Condit fought the smartest way possible). This could frustrate Sonnen and take him away from his game plan. I would also look to go for more body shots.
Sonnen: Similar plan as the last one - Charge at Silva, don't let Silva set up and find his distance, make it a brawl and pick your timing on the take downs. Once the fight is on the ground though, be very technical in the guard and watch positioning.
Thats basically my analysis that I did for fun, what do you guys think of it and how would make a game plan, if you were the fighter or their coach.
