My work has been mostly black&white, but on this recent shoot I feel color adds a valuable new dimension... Do you agree? Comments and feedback welcome both + and -.

Four is excellent!  Yeah, damn shame to turn a redhead into B&W...

Lovely model, and a great sense of taste on the part of the photographer. Restrained and elegant, a B&W sensibility but with that sumptuous color.

Good choice, my preferences run towards 4 & 5.

Nude photos mainly show body curves, but #4 didn't show them well.

I like #1, it emphasizes body curves very well.

I have to go with #4 & #5 as favorites. Very well done. Your B&W background gave it a wonderful dimension.

First, great locations and a red head is a great choice for color.
1- OK, location good, but model is uninteresting.
2- Also OK. Love the wall, model is good, but technically I would have like the lighting on her face to match her torso.
3- Good location, again something a little too boring about model.
4- Better - there's a litte spark
5- Winner, but her left hand just creeping out and curled bugs me.

totally disagree - color adds nothing to what are pretty average photos and might actually be slightly better in B&W- especially #1 on the stairs.  Having her face in shadows in 2 or 3 really doesnt work in color.

I see why everyone is saying #4, but #5 really caught me. I can almost see her taking that step. The light and the window and her expression and posture are amazing. I would be pleased to have something like that in my own portfolio.

Thanks for all replies--valuable pointers from several of you. Also interesting to see how people's tastes vary and overlap.

My own preference is #1 and #5. #1 I am not sure exactly why, maybe the very limited palette--essentially it's like a b/w with her hair the only splash of colour. The sparseness of the location and patterns of the steps.

#5 I really like the warm palette, and how her hair blends so well with the warm tones around her. Her posture as well, with the left foot just descending, is also nice--although I do agree: her claw right hand bothers me to the point of considering post-processing.

Thanks for the feedback.

1) the stairs, b/w palette, and her hair made me choose this one. model pose/expression not particularly compelling.
2) I think the lighting was uniform, however her face/neck have seen a lot more sun lately
5) bang on... the "claw" bothers me, and it bothers me more because I didn't notice it during the posing.

I might be the minority when I say... 5 is my favorite... love the lighting and the hint of highights on her body through the window... nicely done... in fact, it would likely be a "print" on my wall.

(edit.. after having read most of the responses, maybe I"m not the minority.. I usually am smile )

appreciate your feedback. thank you.
there are b&w versions of all the photos. just add "-bw" before "-m.jpg" in the links.

3 and 4 work the best for me. Love the curve of the stairs in 3.
