The president has taken it upon himself to commemorate the month long celebration of Ramadan this year.
Quote: ""On behalf of the American people, Michelle and I extend our warmest wishes to Muslim Americans and Muslims around the world at the start of Ramadan,"
OP: Well now, was there a speech at Christmas? I don't recall hearing about it. How about Easter? No.. no... I don't remember that either. Well surely he's spoken to the Jewish people and of Hanukkah? Hmmm, nope.
But he takes the occasion to commemorate Ramadan? It occurs to me this president has just chosen the wrong religious ideology to boast or tout. 9/11 wasn't that long ago nor is Islam known for it's loving caring scriptures. WTF is he thinking?
Before you pounce on me understand I know not all Muslims are terrorist. I'm not claiming they are.
One last thing, mr president, I'm an American, and NO, you do not speak for me.
"The dinner follows in the tradition of former President George W. Bush, who held eight Ramadan dinners in office to stress that America’s war with violent extremists was not a war with Islam." (ETA: Whoops, forgot a link.)
If you don't "remember" Obama talking at Christmas, here's an excerpt from last Christmas address (he's had one every year) where he welcomed the troops coming home and thanked them.
"[Christmas] reminds us that part of what it means to love God is to love one another, to be our brother’s keeper and our sister’s keeper. But that belief is not just at the center of our Christian faith, it’s shared by Americans of all faiths and backgrounds. It’s why so many of us, every year, volunteer our time to help those most in need; especially our hungry and our homeless.”

1.5 BILLION Muslims did not attack you on 9/11. Obama gives a Christmas greeting from the White House every year (tree and all). You've NEVER seen the yearly Easter Egg Hunt at the WH and the Obama's Easter message?
Now I had to see if Obama had other Christmas addresses.
From 2009:
"But even in these tough times, there’s still so much to celebrate this Christmas. A message of peace and brotherhood that continues to inspire more than 2,000 after Jesus’ birth. The love of family and friends. The bonds of community and country. And the character and courage of our men and women in uniform who are far from home for the holidays, away from their families, risking their lives to protect ours.
"To all our soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen—I have no greater honor than serving as your Commander in Chief. I’ve been awed by your selfless spirit, your eagerness to serve—at the Naval Academy and West Point. I’ve been energized by your dedication to duty—from Baghdad to the Korean Peninsula. Michelle and I have been moved by your determination—wounded warriors at Walter Reed and Bethesda, fighting to recover, to get back to your units."
From 2010:
"Because this is the season when we celebrate the simplest yet most profound gift of all: the birth of a child who devoted his life to a message of peace, love, and redemption. A message that says no matter who we are, we are called to love one another – we are our brother’s keeper, we are our sister’s keeper, our separate stories in this big and busy world are really one.
"Today, we’re also thinking of those who can’t be home for the holidays – especially all our courageous countrymen serving overseas…..So we’re encouraging Americans to ask what you can do to support our troops and their families in this holiday season."
So he's got 2009, 2010, and 2011 covered. He hasn't been able to observe Christmas more than three times so far.
I'm just wondering, faced with the fact that, indeed, Obama is giving other addresses along with full recognition of the troops, if there's room for a little retraction in the OP sentiment. I suspect not, but I'm wondering.

Justin, what are you saying! You know that if TRP doesn't remember something then that something never existed or happened...

Do you think the OP will post on this thread again? If he has even an ounce of intellectual integrity, he'd come back and post his apology.
Oh, he'll be back. He'll make some weird rationalization that will include the economy, jobs, Kenya, Rev. Wright - but nothing about his basic assertion that Obama does not give Christmas or Easter or Jewish Holidays the same consideration as Muslim Holidays. It will be a "Dancing with the Stars" moment of backpedalling and side-stepping.

well I'm a US citizen too and I think you're WHACKED!!!!
I mean like an angry nutter!
I wouldn't be surprised if you are on a couple watch lists, that's how unhinged you and a couple others on MM soapbox sound in regards to President Obama.
You don't happen to own 100 round magazines, do you?
Why do you call it the "lemming left?" You know lemmings don't really follow each other over cliffs, right?
It's funny how conservatives cling to things that aren't true because they used to think they were true and once something is thought to be true (for conservatives) they just can't let go... As Stephen Colbert puts it, They believe on Wednesday what they believed on Monday--no matter what happened on Tuesday...

Have you ever taken the time to befriend a muslim in America?
Are you aware most are in this country because they do not agree with the extreme Muslim faith in their own country so they come to America so they can have freedom of religion?
Are you aware alot of them are here for jobs, etc and are actually benefitting America in some way by their skills in research, medicine, etc?
After the tragic and destructive tornado outbreak here back in April of 2011 while I was volunteering I ran into a muslim American who was married to a muslim man from anotehr country.
Her husband was working at Boeing here as an engineer. She met him there and converted over to the Muslim faith.
She and her 3 daughters were in their house when the massive violent F5 tornado slammed into their home. They were fortunate to be alive. They lost all that they had worked for, their children lost so much also.
The volunteer group that we have been involved with for over a year now helping both the victims of the April 2011 outbreak and the March 2012 outbreak here was the group that demolished their home for them along with helping them in other ways.
Her and her husband were the nicest people one could have met. She is now a friend of mine on Facebook. Both her and her husband listen to rock music, attend concerts, watch R rated movies, drink occassionaly, love musuems and so forth. Typical American life despite their Muslim faith.
Sometimes she wears the Muslim garb and other times you will see her in jeans and a t-shirt.
Her husband suffers from nightmares concerning the violent tornado and when we demolished their home that was the first time that he could go back after the tornado hit because it was too hard on him emotionally and mentality yet he still came to help us demolish his home.
Not only that when we demolished one of his neighbors homes he was there to help us in anyway that he could and even brought us coffee and breakfast.
I have been so fortunate to have met such a wonderful Muslim couple despite the tragic circumstances that we had to meet under.
So you can keep your Muslim hating ass to yourself cause not all Muslims are terrorists and blah, blah, blah.
Some of them are the finest Americans or non American one can meet. Far better than some of the asshat Christian people I have encountered.
Which was sad, not one Christian volunteer group offered to help this Muslim couple once they found out that they were Muslim and the wife really got shit on by idiots in this community once they found out that she was a white American born woman. People sprayed painted on her house bullshit like traitor, American hater, go away do not rebuild, and so forth.
Mind you a house that was in pieces due to the tornado yet Americans still portrayed just how ignorant and low that they can go.
So if our President wants to honor Muslims in this country just as he has done other religions than I say, kudos to him for being one who is not as ignorant and full of hatred like you appear to be.

I'm saying there's lots of unmitigated BS around here. Plenty of it comes from the Lemming Left.
What else is new?
But I don't see what connection that has with the thread.
Summary. Points of the OP:
Allegation: Obama is doing something new by recognizing Ramadan.
Response: Obama is continuing a tradition that Bush carried over the entirety of his two terms by recognizing Ramadan.
Some members of the extreme right are so anti-Obama that anything he says or does must therefore be wrong. The problem with this knee-jerk response is sometimes it puts you in an untenable position.
This thread is a great example: Obama recognizes Ramadan so therefore he's not favoring Christmas or other religions.
Publicly, it's like criticizing the administration for not putting boots on the ground in Syria but the cost of the bombs that the US contributed to the Civil War in Libya...huh? Or the "controversy" over inviting Common to the White House...when other Presidents had invited (and awarded) performers like Cash and Presley who'd sung about killing cops...oops!

Another shining example of how blind partisanship makes one look like a total fool no matter which side you are from.
There are many reasons to be pissed at Obama, lord knows I have a few major ones,
this is so far off the radar for being important that had their not been this thread I would not have known or cared

It's getting both hilarious and pathetic how the angry conservative are the ones starting threads to attempt to invent issues about Obama without doing simple google searches... yet they are the ones calling the left haters when evidence is presented, wow!
A continuous stream of "think before you post if you don't like being corrected."

Yup, it's a false dichotomy, and this thread exemplifies how conservatives are total Pavlovian suckers for false dichotomies.
So much so, in fact, that they counter critiques of false dichotomies by just ditching the dichotomy part and babbling utter falsehoods masquerading as "opinion" (as this thread also clearly illustrates).
And that's why they fail, and that's why we laugh.

Once (or if in this case) you attain more of a world view, it becomes obvious that relations with the Muslim community is in dire need of attention - if we expect to coexist in the world, and cohabit this country.
We obviously spend too much time "picking and choosing" based on a narrow view.

I'm confused by your post. It seems like a typo betrayed your intent. Did you mean to say that, in November, there will be a lot of people voting for Obama?
Either way, do what you gotta do, but do your compatriots and yourself the courtesy of knowing why. This thread isn't about informed political decision-making, it's a demonstration of how ridiculously polarized, paranoid and xenophobic the right seems to have grown in the US. If you keep this up, it won't be long before your mainstream right wing looks like Europe's extreme right wing.
The OP should be fairly easy to find... seems to have stepped right into a steaming pile with both feet, and should be leaving fecal footprints for quite a while.
