Bit of a problem, Spilt the last of my Temptu s/b airbrush cleaner and need to clean my gun before a gig tomorrow!
Is there anything else i can use that will not clog my gun? I have ordered more but will take a day or so to get here! :-/

Windex is great for acrylic paint....not sure how it would work for silicone based makeup. I don't use SB, so I would suggest waiting for another opinion.

Use the strongest alcohol you've got!  Alcohol breaks down silicone and adhesive.  Use 99% rubbing alcohol if you've got it - if not, soak it for at least 2 hours in whatever % you can get your hands on.

Good luck!

isopropyl alcohol to be exact...  91% is widely available and cost effective... 99% is expensive 10x more than 91% and will seriously damage your skin owing to it is strongly hygroscopy... please consider protecting your hands if using 99%

TEMPTU's professional cleaning kit recommends 91% isopropyl... works for me smile

might not be wise... the gun's O-ring seals can be damaged by extended immersion in alcohol... while transient exposure is well tolerated prolonged may not be...

all the best on your upcoming gig Jenni...

Good to know about the 99% - I didn't even know 91% was available.

ALCOHOL. Take apart your gun and put all the little parts in a bowl of alcohol and use a long Q Tip to reach in and clean inside the gun itself.

All the internals are metal? (Yes O-rings I know) ....
Lacqure thinner cuts a gun loose. Then take apart whipe dry and inspect.

several components of commercial grade lacquer thinner are know to cause skin irritation... unlike isopropyl alcohol these components can remain residual in the cavity of an airbrush gun for an extended period...  This is an industry forum, please do not provide information that has potential to cause harm...  Our professional liability insurance mandates we use cosmetic grade product only, thank you for your thoughtful consideration here...

Granted, SOLVENT based products DO work wonders.

Buuuuut - if your not willing to wash your face with it - why use it to clean an airbrush that is used for cosmetic applications?

The airbrush is chrome and really doesn't care, but as Professinals, we need to take the poor model into consideration.

If you can, use a brush that does not leave bits behind. I use q-tips in a pinch as well, but they often leave behind fibers that can really gum things up eventually... so use with caution if you want to avoid future issues.
