I like it just as it is.  Sometimes the light works well even when the flash fails.

If you are processing in lightroom, you can play with the levels and selective exposure to brighten it.

Don't know. I don't think adding make up in post is valid. You can still go further if you shot raw in say LR. It's hard for me to say as usually I can make magic even with the worst of shots.

Personally, I like the shot. Not so much as an award winner... but the overall idea of the shot is good. Her expression says "hurry up, this is cold"... the location says "this is dangerous" the lighting says "early or late in the day." It would help if it were just a touch lighter (especially on the right side) but I do think the shot has something to say, as it is.

Edit:  I'm rephrasing my question to make it clearer what I'm asking.

Does anyone else like this shot?  Would you stop to look at it if you saw it in my portfolio, going through a gallery, in a magazine etc.?  I find myself drawn to it and was hoping I could figure out why?   Or if I'm the only one.

Cheers,
Dave

It doesn't work for me, personally.  Women in waterfall shots are so common that it would have to have some compellingly different angle or meta-statement about the genre...

I liked it until I enlarge the image and then...oh no!!!,I'm not a fan of the left foot and leg placement and the weird makeup is a no-no and the expression could be better...sorry.

No. The lipstick matching the suit really bothers me, and the foot placement is a little off. The concept is neat though!

no, unfortunately I don't. Take a few days without looking at it and then come back and reevaluate. Sometimes you really only like it for the moment that it was shot and not the photo itself.

No, she looks very awkwardly placed.

I don't think it is good shot. It misses on way too many fronts.  Pose: Awkward  Expression: Pained  Exposure: Flat

"Would you stop to look at it if you saw it in my portfolio, going through a gallery, in a magazine etc?"

Nope... hot nose, strange eyebrow highlights, awkward pose... not for me.

I definitely look at the picture for longer than usual... But not in a good sense. Something about her expression; the =O just doesn't do it. Maybe if she was close mouthed and a bit more attitude it would be good. Also, blurry.

She looks like she is annoyed and doesn't feel the shoot was going well.

Was someone barking orders at her?

.. though I like that one too .. mostly because of the definition in her right thigh.  Thank you for your take on the shot.

Cheers,
Dave

IMHO, this one is better than the first one. Not really a fan of the first- the expression is too unhappy.

Nope not a fan it is out of focus on the eyes, her foot is weird, it is flat, the model blends with the background and it is like a million other waterfall shots.

The blue lipstick sticks out like a sore thumb (it was the very first thing that registered with me) and the pose looks awkward.

So, I might stop and look at it, but not for the reasons that you would prefer.

Sorry, leaves me cold.
Models right leg looks kinda weird, the lighting doesn't work for me and it looks out of focus.

No.  The lighting is dull; the colors are bland; the pose is awful; the expression looks ugly; her body has no curves or shape to it (because of the pose as well); her eyebrows (or lack of) looks weird; her left arm is hooked into what looks like a single finger where her hand should be; and the makeup is horrible.

Does nothing to make me want to look at it again.

Wow !  Hate to pile on here, but it doesn't appeal to me either.  For a minute, as I was reading the first replies, I thought I had missed something, but even on further review, it just isn't' my cup of tea.  Most of the reasons why have been mentioned, so I won't repeat them.  Sorry.
