You may decide which gig.

Nothing really jumps out at me, Dasha.  All your work seems safe and more along the lines of commercial, so I can't really see what looks you're capable of achieving.  You also don't have any stand out features that capture me.  Although you do have rather full cheeks, which reminds me of baby fat and makes me wonder if you're even over 18.

I don't think I can use your look for anything, so I'm going to go with Option A for you.

Not only is this thread profoundly entertaining, but you are also giving very fair and honest critiques. I'm not sure what I would be best suited to do for you if you won the lottery, but I would still love to hear your thoughts.

Some of your work, Nathan, makes me think there's an artist inside of you who is trying to get out.  Then other stuff makes me think if you're not careful, you'll end up just becoming another one of those cheesy glam photographers who just wants to put models in trashy lingerie and shoot them in corny settings.

This image...

http://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/111210/01/4ee3244487784_m.jpg

is the main reason I say that.  I mean...why in the world would two models in lingerie NEED to be standing in the shower??  That photo makes no sense and is poorly shot to boot.

I can see your appreciation for beautiful women though.  So, you have to ask yourself the same question I asked myself years ago..."Do you want to be an artist, or do you want to be a pornographer?"   If you want to be an artist, then refine your techniques, lighting and post-work; and put more class into what you do.  Stop looking at the tits & ass portfolios and start focusing on the masters.  Study the way the light, pose and tone their images.  Push yourself to be better with every single shot.

For right now your work is too unrefined and your creativity is limited.  You have a lot of potential to grow though, so don't sell yourself short by shooting simple glam shots that will get comments here simply because they have a half-naked chick.  Make people like your photos because they're GOOD, not because of who's in them.

It'll have to be Option B for you, because I'm hoping you have a friendly enough personality that I'd be willing to spend some time giving you a few pointers of my own, or allowing to watch the shoots I approve for this project so you can learn some good techniques.

Since you just bought a sprawling property with horse stables, ponds, guest houses, and a 1500' driveway, let me suggest we shoot around the property utilizing the out buildings, master house, sun porch, pond stables and some of the animals to create awesome images.

You also strike me as a diamond in the rough, Jhono.  Your composition is good, but your lighting and your ability to capture decisive moments is weak.

This image...

Has great composition.  You made good use of perspective, which draws the viewers eyes right to the model.  The lighting is muddled though and the pose seems stiff.  Shame, because it could've been a really good shot.

I'd like to see you improve as well, but for now I couldn't use you for any of my projects.  I'll have to go with Option B for you as well.

I like that you're comfortable enough to shoot nudes and seem very comfortable expressing yourself in different ways.  Despite that, your look doesn't fit anything I could use right now.

I would like to see you do more fine art work, to see what you're capable of in that genre.  But for now, I'm going to go with Option B.  I'd come out and say hi to you, just because you seem like an intelligent and interesting woman to meet.

and this one...

and realized it's not YOU that's the problem, it's the people you're shooting with.  Some of them just don't know how to capture your beauty.  Others, like the photographers who shot the images above, nail it and thoroughly bring out what makes red heads so appealing to me.

You're beautiful!  I would love to shoot with you and see you in some amazing art work.  Right now I'm thinking Option C, but I could easily be persuaded to up it to Option D after meeting you I'm sure.

You definitely know how to style your self for pinup, Harley.  Despite that, you're lacking that 100-watt smile that makes the classic Pinup such a beautiful art form.  You seem hesitant when you smile, like you're forcing it instead of really having the time of your life.

Having a conservative attitude doesn't help either, because it comes across in your posing.  You're rigid and appear somewhat self-conscious.  I think if you trimmed down a bit, you might feel better about yourself and have a little more confidence when shooting.

Still, you see like a friendly person, so I'd like to meet with you and see maybe I could use your look another time.  I'll go with Option B for you.

Oh My GOD, MelissaAnn!  You could SO be my muse!  I ADORE your look and think your modeling is just amazing.  You bring such emotion, elegance, gracefulness and beauty to every image.

I would give you anything your heart desired.  You would not only get Option D, but you would have be welcomed to stay at my mansion anytime you wished and I would gladly provide anything you needed for any future modeling gigs.

YOU are damn near perfection in my book.  smile

I'm sorry you feel that way. However, I am a brand new model and it was my first professional photoshoot. I would like to say however that I am not self-conscious and am happy with my body the way it is. One of the reasons I started modeling is to show the world that 1) you don't have to be a size 2 to be beautiful and 2) you don't have to show everything that God and your mama gave you to be sexy. Although I do have an appreciation for fine art nudes and don't get me wrong your portfolio is amazing, I have no intention of ever doing nudes as I live by the philosophy "If I can't show it to my family, I shouldn't be doing the photoshoot." Thank you for you input and I will work on showing my emotions more in my future shoots.

First thing that jumps out at me, Paul, is that I don't think you'd look good in a slingshot bikini next to my Aston Martin.  lol

Not sure if you want a critique or not, under the premise I'm hiring people; but since you posted I'll assume you do.

To be honest, it's hard to tell if you have a good look or not, because you have too few photos in your portfolio and not enough variety.  It seems like you have some good features, but I'm definitely not a fan of the unshaven look; especially when it's patchy like yours is...kinda' reminds me of a hamster with mange.

I also can't tell what kind of build you have.  I'd suggest shaving and letting your hair grow out, then getting a good haircut, and then shooting some stuff without a shirt on to show your body type.  Based on your stats and your photos you look kind of thin, but I could be wrong.

You have good eyes though, so I'd probably come out to meet you and see if you have some potential.

You have some awesome potential, even though you're on a short side, so I would hold on to your card/resume and call you in two years to see if I could use you for a project.

The forums are strictly for entertainment value, so no worries; I don't take things personally.

I'm not too keen on the short hair with you.  I think the longer (blonde) hair suits your face better and makes you look younger, but I'd like to see it in a darker color like auburn or dark brown.  I do like the fact you're comfortable with your body though and feel you'd be a great model to create art with.  Plus (based on your responses to my flake thread) you seem to have a strong, confident character.  I like that.  wink

I would definitely want to have a sit down with you and talk over lunch.  I think you might find out I'm actually a pretty down to earth guy who could probably relate well to your personality type and I'm guessing I might find you to be a very interesting person.  You come across as having an artist's soul (if I can coin such a term), so I would enjoy meeting you.

I'm currently in the process of growing out my hair actually. I've had short hair for the past decade, I just kept it short because it was a no-brainer. I love wigs.

Secretary?  No, no, no!  You must pose for me.  smile

You have this eerie beauty that one could do so much with.  You dress up very well (as seen by the shots of you in the gown and up-do) and you can pull off sexy (as seen in your lingerie shots), but I could also easily see you pulling off some dark, creepy shoot in an abandoned hospital.  And since you look young as well, you could pull off that ghostly Victorian little girl look with the creepy doll.  I'll bet someone like Springheel could shoot some amazing stuff with you.  Very versatile look, which is very much a good thing.

Don't know if I'd use you for the calendar, but I'd certainly want to create something artistic and deep with you.  I'd say lunch would be in order so we could talk more.

You have a very beautiful style and some nice images, but then you mix it with some shots that look like they don't fit in at all.

For example, these images...

http://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/120422/06/4f9406f6d0cd4_m.jpg

http://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/110526/16/4ddee79370e9e_m.jpg

http://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/100716/05/4c404be82522b_m.jpg

just don't fit with the rest of your work and actually look like they were shot either by someone else, or when you were still new to photography.  Then you have something like this...

http://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/110409/04/4da0416821c11_m.jpg

which is both interesting and pretty.

Overall, your work is "pretty", but none of it really GRABS me.  It's unrefined, but shows a lot of potential to become stellar one day.  Fine tune your compositions and posing/expressions and you'll have something very unique.

For now, I'd come out to meet you and see if your personality is likable enough for me to want to invest a little into helping you grow as a photographer, but I don't think I'd have you shoot the stuff I needed.

Well on instinct I would want to vote for option D, but I don't know exactly know what you are seeking.  Do you want beauty but no brains?  If that is the case then it is option A, but if you want a beautiful, intelligent plus sized woman then I am the woman you have been searching for. I may not have Double D breasts or be a size 2 but I believe I make up for the lack of those assets with spunk and personality.

The ball is in your court...

If I needed a tutor to help me study for an astrophysics exam, then brains would be important.  In modeling...not so much.  That doesn't mean I'm simply looking for some vapid 19 year old with dyed extensions and bolt on tits.  For me, it's all about the whole package.  Beauty is very important, as well as the shape of the body.  If you have a charming personality and are able to hold a conversation though, then that's simply icing on the cake.  In the end I want to shoot photos.  I want to capture a fraction of a second in time and preserve it in an aesthetically pleasing way. Therefor, personality really means very little to the final product.

That being said, I have to look at your portfolio objectively and see if you have a look that fits any of the concepts/roles I have listed.   Based solely on that, I would have to say you would get Option A.  Other than having some beautiful eyes, your portfolio shows me nothing about what you're capable of.

Your hair and makeup look the same in just about every image, and your expressions and posing show little to no range.  Body-wise you'd probably be a great model if I was a Renaissance painter, but for the art and glamor images I want to create you're not cuttin' it.

Sorry, but I'll have to pass.

Initially, after looking at the portfolio you're logged into, I would've leaned more toward either Option A or more likely Option B.  When I looked at your other portfolio though, it totally bumped you up to Option C.

I think you have far more versatility with nudes than you do with fashion and commercial.  You have a beautiful and elongated figure that would be great for art nudes, plus a nicely exotic look.  I do think you have to be more selective on hair and makeup though, in order to get a look that better suits your particular features.

Your nude portfolio reminds me some of Naomi Campbell's work with Patrick Demarchelier.  With the right photographer(s), I'm sure you could create something along those lines.

Lunch is on me.  smile

You have great taste in models (Holy Crap! that Chris Sicily is freakin' AMAZING!!), which helps your portfolio a lot.  You also have a fairly good grasp of exposure and lighting.  There's room for improvement though; some with your compositions, but more so with posing.

I don't think you're far off though, so it's just a matter of honing your skills.  Also, you work with some gorgeous women.  Why in the world do you feel the need to smooth their skin so much in post?  Less is more when it comes to clearing up blemishes and lines.

For now, I'd go with Option B and meet you to see what your personality is like.  If we click well, then I might pay for some tutoring to help you improve and then later consider you for the calendar if you're a good student.

Fun, thanks.  But in regards to smoothing their skin...believe it or not, I don't.  I just use the healing/clone tools to clear up blemishes in a few minor spots when needed, that's it.  I try to work with people that don't have skin problems....so what you see are just good looking girls with what I hope to be good light.

Sweet Jeebus, you are tiny!  You have a rather cute and exotic face though.  With the right makeup artist, I'm sure you could create some nice images.

I don't know if I could use your look for what I want though.  With such a petite figure, I feel like any art nudes would make you look underage, while any glam images wouldn't quite fit you.

You have a unique face though, which could make for some interesting images at some point, so I'd go with Option B and come out to meet you.

Okay, first thing you have to do is get rid of that avatar.  I was about to pass you up because of it, but luckily I looked at the rest of your portfolio and found out a couple of things...you are DAMN SEXY and BEAUTIFUL.

This shot would be so much better as your avatar and is more likely to get people to look closer at your profile...

http://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/120117/19/4f1635e3b3c30.jpg

You definitely need to shoot with more refined photographers who can really capture your look well.  The shot you're using as your avatar now is too close up and flattens out your features.  This makes your nose look bigger and your upper lip look like you had a cleft palette (which I'm guessing is possible, but if so it's almost undetectable in your other photos).

You have what looks to be a very nice figure as well, so I'm gonna' go with Option C for you.

Well, I'm always up for a shoot with a beautiful Asian woman; and that you are.  I would suggest you change your avatar as well though, since what you currently have is way too distracting and looks more like I'm about to peek into Cruella DeVille's MM page.  I think this one would be much better...

http://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/100602/04/4c06475cd4a3e.jpg

Beauty aside; I would probably have gone with Option C for you, but your portfolio is just a bit too conservative for me.  All your images are "safe", even though you're trying to be bold and sexy.  If you can't push your limits, then it's likely nothing I'm looking for will work for you.  Therefor, I have to go with Option C.

Take some risks though and show me your sexy.  Do that and I'll probably bump you back up to Option C.
