I am not too thrilled about the 90mm 2.8 macro, but the news of an updated Tamron 70-200 is great news. Tamron's current 70-200 is a good lens, very sharp, but it severely lacks in the AF department. My hope is that this upgrade, with its USD AF motor will keep the sharpness of its predecessor but vastly improve on its AF accuracy.
Release Date and Price are yet unknown.
I have the original lens as my backup and it's great. My only gripe is, as has already been mentioned, the AF is REALLY bad, but when it does eventually lock on, it's quite sharp. Tamron also needs to learn how to get their zoom ring in the right direction too. But other than that, it's a great lens.
On a side note, I had some minor damage to this lens and it needed cleaning too. I sent it to Tamron and and they did a thorough cleaning, repair on the lens, and got it back to me in about a week. EXCELLENT customer service!
