I received a message asking for models to do a photoshoot with Allure magazine next month.  If so contact the representative of model recruitement.  Has anyone else received this message? I'm not sure if it is legit or not.

Let me know!

I cannot imagine this is legit.  Allure would certainly use high level agency models.

There is a huge  button on your messages screen that says "AVOID SCAMS: THE BASICS"

Read it. The message you got was a scam, and it's important for you to recognize what scams are and how they will try to target you so that you can avoid them.

Allure does not contact people directly they go through their casting dept, and them through their top agencies.

Scam.

Yes! I got that exact message on the same day as you. I just checked my inbox and there it was. Then, I got suspicious and looked up whether it was a scam. Now I am 99.9% sure because looks like we have the same message sent the same day.

If the return email address is not xxxx@allure.com or similar that is the first scam clue.

Let me explain. There are 10 zillion models out there and 300,000 or so here on MM, (taking a guess of course). You are not special.

Anyone who swears they can get a model into any magazine or offers you a shoot for a magazine is already charging their client $2000 a day and isn't scouting his / her own models.

Very very very rarely will a big time photographer even speak to the model prior to the shoot let alone ask them to work together. The magazine has a team of people to do that already. The photographer just shows up on the set and does what's asked of him /her

I also got one from HELLO magazine! It had scam written all over it! They say they will mail you a check and then want you to cash it and deposit it into their acct.

I just had one of my models contact me over this issue. She received an envelop in the mail with a check for $1,990, with instructions that stated that she email somebody after the check has been in the bank for 24 hours. I told her not to do anything of the sort until I do some looking into it...but I highly doubt Allure would communicate with models like this, via MM... the envelop was from John Dumel and the check was from Jesse James Shaw...sounds like a pretty bad stage name to me...

I recived the same email not to long ago and they sent me two checks today and there fake becareful of this scam because if you do what they say it goes on your record and youll owe money to your bank. They said to take it to your bank and deposit it in your account for 24hrs then withdraw the money and keep 300 and send 1520 to the clothing designer. so I took it to the check cashing store and they said its fake they also say to email them after the check has been in the bank for 24hrs the envelope came from Richard Osborn and the email was from David Copeland
