People (namely regular posters) often respond with snide remarks and silly animated gifs because they're baited into it by trolls who are so starved for attention that they start threads that ask questions that either make no sense, are inflammatory or are just so inane that we are all left shaking our heads that someone could be so detached from the reality that most of the world subscribes to.
A)you have a negative history on the forums and they're tired of your shit
B)you say something utterly stupid.
C)you say something mean first
D)you bait them into it
E)you continue to say and do stupid things after you've gotten the answers you asked for and clearly ignore all solid advice; usually not to keep exhibiting that behavior
F)they feel like being mean
I'm guessing not many people will get that one though.
Oh as for the question at hand.
I don't know anything about you, so I can't judge from your past posts.
In real life, when someone says something stupid, you give them a look to communicate your feelings, and or walk away.
On the internet, you can't give a look, so it is your duty to convey you're feelings, as strongly as you possibly feel.
If someone on here asked me a dumb question, they get an answer bitching them out. In real life, I smile, and nicely explain to them why they're stupid, while smiling, and telling them I understand why they'd think that, when in reality, I think they need to get hit by a bus.

Based on my experience in the forums over a few years, there are usually a few reasons for this sort of thing.
Off the top of my head:
A) The person is asking a question that has been asked many times before, the answer is easily found with a minimum of research, or the question is viewed as really obvious, stupid or crazy.
B) The person is asking a reasonable question, but has a history of "A".
C) People in forums have a low tolerance for BS and have a negative response when they encounter it or think they encounter it.
D) The person has a history of posting in a forum in ways that makes other forum users dislike them. Examples: The person has a history of "A", or trolling, or is seen as either clueless/oblivious or strategic/intentional in evoking negative responses.
E) The person repeats the same behaviors over and over, somehow expecting that there will be a different outcome.
F) Catch-all answer - the person has somehow developed a negative reputation and the response to that occurring is that they will attract snide remarks whenever they post.
It is kinda like the story of the boy who cried wolf.. people were okay a few times, but after a while, they got so tired of it that his reputation was permanently damaged.
These are just a few things I could think of quickly.
I hope it is helpful to you in answering your question.
Edit: Gosh, I hate it when I am slow typing something and someone else posts the same time as writing/typing and it looks like I'm just saying the same thing.
