His name is Lukas but apparently the s sound is bad for dogs so I'm calling him Luke for short. He's a ten week old Chihuahua, Jack Russel mix and so lovable. He likes to chew his bone, chase me around the house and eat leaves LOL

Yup I had one growing up. He's actually pretty calm. He was up for a bit we ran around the yard and then he went back to bed

Personally, because of allergy issues, I'd rather have a feathered or scaled pet.  Always thought a red-bellied parrot would make a great companion.

Well, no.  A bird would need a proper roost, and a human's bed is far from ideal.

I did the same thing with my dog.  It went something like, "I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have your ovaries ripped out." I don't think she understood.

He started humping my stuffed animal and foot and I said "Sweetie, we're gonna have to chop your balls off as soon as possible. Sorry, I love you"

He's really a cute dog.  I assume he won't get much bigger than that, though, right?

Oh, he will probably keep humping. Every neutered dog I've had still humped just not as often.

No, which was the whole point. I wanted to be able to bring him with me on car trips and easily board him when I'm in L.A. if Scott is with me

Ah of course... big dogs are less-than-ideal for traveling models.

Then again, so are parrots (maybe?)...

Pretty much. I don't travel much anymore though except to L.A. if I were full time traveling like I used to I wouldn't have gotten a dog. It would not have been fair to the dog

That's what I thought.  I can only imagine that traveling is rough on a dog.  It's rough enough on humans as it is, from what I understand.  Although, I don't travel, so I am not sure how I'd handle it, much less a dog.

I never thought birds were much of a pet. However if I were to ever have one it would be the one I see at a store near me. It is like a pink and grey parrot it is so pretty and seems pretty quiet. Honestly though I wouldn't know what to do with a bird.

Well, birds can be amazing companions.  You might be surprised.  However it's not really a good idea to get a parrot at a pet store.  If you were to get a bird like a red-belly you'd want to go with a reputable breeder...

Yeah I kinda figured it would be best to go with a breeder. But I am not getting a bird anytime soon sooo I am happy with what I have now. :'D

For the record, I owned a budgie for 10 years, and he was a wonderful pet.

They are funny little birds.  I don't like cockatiels as much, because they are living dustballs.  Not really great for asthmatics, really.

And, Ashley, sorry, I kind of threadjacked your thread here.  I apologize.

lol I hear that cockatoos are too cuddly! They like to spend time with their humans, to the point where it gets annoying even.  But I've never been around one... They are expensive birds, if I remember right.

Awwwww he's a cutie!  I never used to like Chihuahuas until we got Elora (we're pretty sure she's a Corgi/Chihuahua mix).  If he an adorable mess of bouncy energy?

He chases and chases me around the house and then sleeps and chews. Chew toys help a lot with energy killing

He likes to lick between my toes. He hates going outside because he hasn't been out there much. We're taking him to petsmart today

Hm I'm surprised about the outside thing...my pups *love* being outside.  Maybe cause your guy is younger?  Or maybe my pups are just too dumb to be afraid of anything  lol

Heh I don't know what it is with pups and toes/feet!  Especially after a shower or putting on lotion!  I swear that after every shower, my pups try to kill me!
