So, I think I am going to start dancing again. At least for a little while. With that comes the name conundrum. I'm thinking Calla Lily. Thoughts?

If you want my opinion pick something sexier.
If its going to be a flower name at least go with something more playful:
Daisy or Tulip.
Lily is ok, but you don't need to specify what type of lily. tongue

Really tho, stick to a simple name, don't make it complicated to remember.
Or too difficult to understand over loud music.

Showing your creativity is NOT key here.

She could always shorten it to Lily over loud music,

I like Calla Lily.

Most places I've worked, dancers have used really normal names -- Kim, Lisa, Tammy, Pam, whatever.

I've been: Eva, Alice, and Yvonne. Eva and Yvonne were considered pretty "stripperish" because they weren't easy, simple, common names.

I think the appeal of not having a name that is obviously a stage name is that, you want customers to relate to you, and feel like you're "down to earth." Once you start working with a name that sounds exotic, it immediately alienates you from your customer base. It actually puts some customers on the defensive.

You're also a teenage girl, who I hope hasn't been to any strip clubs.
She could call herself "Gary" for all I care, as long as she can dance! Haha.

That's why I would just use Lily most of the time.

True dat! My favorite dancer's stage name was "stacy" her real (legal, birth) name is Star.
Which was more exotic than her stage name.

EDIT: I think you should go with "Gary" not only is it memorable but its down to earth. wink

Kayla is a good one. It's not used to often and is simple and easy to remember.

I always pictured you as being kinda awkward.

For some reason, Jen as a name comes to mind.

How about Callie?  Close to Calla, and sounds real enough ...

Mine is Ray.  Different enough to stand out, simple enough to remember, and when they ask what my real name is (which they inevitably do) I just tell them Ray is short for Rachel and let them think that's the real one ...

Names that are too unique and exotic aren't too common where I work.  The customers never believe that's your real name anyway, and really obviously fake ones tend to put them off more than the normal ones

Never go with something the DJ can fuck up.

If you want Laura, they're gonna call you Lauren, Laurie, Lora, lorie, Layla,  for example.

Ding ding.

The fact that she can stand in 6 inch heels and swing around a pole is a sheer mystery since she can barely walk without nearly eating shit.

But thats probably too intellectual for most of the clients to get, haha.  But Georgia just by itself is kinda nice.

I'm very awkward, I'm clumsy as hell and making small talk with strangers is a challenge for me.  But I'm a damn good dancer despite all that

I think you should keep it normal unless you are feature dancing...

If your name is what they remember... you are doing it wrong!

It's a mystery to us all. Devin can't figure it out. Flats, I kill myself, heels, runs a marathon.
