PM is very simple.

Do you have tattoos? If so, where and how many? What are your rates?

Are the people you're sending these messages to reading them?  You can check to see if a message has been read or not.  It's very possible that a good percentage of the women aren't even on MM enough to read their messages every week.

But I'd say something a little more than the equivalent of:

Me photographer.
Me like your look.
How much?

No wonder you get little to no response. You don't have a strange language, but in your queries you definitely display all the charm, savvy and understanding of a mule kicking down a door.

He doesn't even bother with the "Me like your look."

Your attitudes toward models, strippers and modeling may have something to do with your lack of success in finding a model who'll put up with your shit.

I'm gonna put it to you straight.  You seem to have the impression that models are the most worthless part of the shoot.  Like a model does nothing but sit and stare at the camera.

So step one.  Learn how to speak with some tact.  If you have no filter between your brain and your mouth, find a new career where you can sit behind a computer and never talk to anyone.

Step two.  Maybe offer yourself to another photographer for a test.  So what if the pictures never make it into anyone's port.  That's not the point.  The point is to put yourself in the model's position.  Do what they do and see how easy it feels.  It's always easier to talk to someone after you've walked a mile in their shoes.

Just my twocents

Look, Zap, I know you think every woman is secretly crazy eager to get naked for you. Unfortunately, telling them that you think the most erotic part of a woman is the boobies probably won't snag you many hits.

No. I"m straight to the point. I am not one to kiss ass. I would think they would prefer to not hear someone that sounds like they are drooling over them. Simply, what are your rates, etc.

No I did not retouch the pictures.

Complimenting is kissing ass now? Wow, no wonder you get no response. How charming of you!

There's a huge gap between "Photoshoot. Rates?" and drooling over the model's ass. Since you can't figure that out and you're trying to make up for your lack of communication skills with a rude and clueless attitude, it's pretty much a done deal that you're not going to be getting many models to work with you. Not unless you fork over a *lot* more money than you're offering now.

You might as well switch to shooting landscapes and bowls of fruit now.

So, given the topic of the thread, what is your impression of how accurately you've got it pegged what the models want to hear? If you are operating at a near zero percent success rate there's not much to lose in changing your approach.

As simply as possible: You need to work on your communication, you don't sound welcoming, friendly, respectful, fun, exciting, perceptive, knowledgeable or portray any personality that would cause a person to want to be around you and take their clothes off. You need to work on this if you want to be more successful in attracting models.
Stop arguing and take suggestions for how to improve.

Most of us have models practically falling over themselves to get paid jobs, so it's probably something in your attitude... just an inkling

Here's a typical query for a project that got me in with a bunch of wonderful models, some of whom I worked with multiple times. BTW, I got a 100% positive response rate on this series of queries -- close to ten times the number of models I needed for the project and a year later I have yet to get through my "to shoot" list resulting from this one recruitment.

I friended and tagged each model in advance, so I wasn't doing a total cold-call.

Note: Most of my initial queries about interest in a shoot aren't this elaborate, but they follow the same schema.

(Current commentary in bold.)

==========================================================
Hi ________,

We don't know each other, but you've got a great look and I'd like a chance to shoot with you. (Polite introduction.)

I can't make any promises at this point, but I'm involved in setting up a bridal/prom shoot this month for a bridal/tux shop and I'm looking for models. We'll have a hair/MUA on hand. Some looks will be shot outdoors at sunset, others will be shot under studio lights in the bridal shop. We'll also be shooting models in prom dresses at some point along the way. (We'll have access to every dress in the shop.) (Dangle the bait.)

This shoot would be TF but might eventually lead to paid work. Again, no promises. (Specify the conditions.)

Would you be interested? (A little humility and respect for the model's position.)

Check out my MM profile and portfolio to see if my style agrees with you. (A little more humility and respect.)

Bob

No drooling. No kissing ass, unless you consider the "you've got a geat look and I'd like to work with you" ass-kissing. And if you do consider that kissing ass, quit working with human models. They appreciate politeness and a little kindness.
