Yes and no.

Yes you can make yourself taller by stretching.

No it won't be one or two inches. The difference could be very small.

And no, it won't last for very long.


This is not much different than how you are naturally taller when you first get out of bed than you are in the evening. To the tune of a half inch or so. Your connective tissue compresses over the course of a day and then stretches when your weight is off your feet. So you can do these stretches all you want, but just walking around and standing is going to undo what they do.

The effect is temporary. You're taller after a night's sleep, but over the course of the day the discs in your spine compress again.

Astronauts and cosmonauts in prolonged stays in orbit get the effect by as much as two inches for as long as they remain in orbit, but again the effect ends once they're back on Earth.
