Awwww thanks Charlie... I was hard to keep the swurling crowd of photographers away from you on Sunday. I was lucky to get a couple of shots in. Keep in touch and lets party again when you come back. Birthday cake was tasty at GC...

Somewhere in between probably. I would like to see some D800 hair for comparison. Anyway, I'm hoping you can get in closer on the hair in your next D600 shots. It's really remarkable.
Ashley at a measly 12.2 megapixels STILL looks good!
True... and hey Clark... 12 megapixels is way more than enough to render fantastic results. It's all about how you sharpen your images as you downsize them. Come to my Dec 22nd studio shoot (only $40 for photographers) and I'll give you some tips...

You know, you're right. I have to reconsider after looking at Art's pics above (if they were shot w/ D700), and your legacy D700 pics. They have excellent quality. Which begs the question: why did you sell your D700?

The D700 is definitely a fantastic camera... BUT... I was reading reviews on the 24 megapixel D600... saw just how fantastic it was performing in low light (one of my favorite shooting arenas)... and decided to jump on the D600. Been gettin AMAZING results with it so far... AND... the D600 does great video while the D700 doesn't do any video. Checkout D600 review over at http://www.dxomark.com and http://www.dpreview.com Both sites gave the D600 rave reviews with a 'gold award' at DPReview. It's better in low light than the D800e and over $1000 less in price...

Yup, I guess the D700 is now 'old technology'.
Keeping up with new tech is just too expensive for us retirees. I'm just gonna have to squeeze out the best performance from my legacy equipment....unless...unless Obama can give me a bailout and free health insurance.
Halley Kathyryn has been doing a lot of self-reflection on this issue...
