Hello everyone, I'll be working on my first short film (local independant production) this weekend. One of the actresses I'll be working on is 13 (playing the same age), and I haven't worked with that age group before. Any tips or tricks you guys have for me would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to overdo it or accidentally make her look older than she is. Thanks.

Perfect skin, cover blemishes. No makeup on the eye outside of imperceptible contouring if needed. Might slightly darken lashes. Clean, well groomed brows. Lip balm that's very slightly tinted so the lips appear rosy and healthy. Might do a slight tint on the cheek depending on coloring.

Minimalism is definitely the word of the day for her. Unless she ABSOLUTELY needs it, you probably shouldn't do a full face, unless her character is the sort of girl that's really into makeup. Youth makeup and men's grooming are in very much the same vein, to my mind. Just fix the obvious stuff, don't get too jiggy with it.

If she IS a girly girl that's into getting made up, then still keep a very light hand on the skin, and focus on eyes and lips, maybe a liiiittle bit of contouring. The contouring is what usually matures someone of that age. It takes away that youthful roundness.
