I question the remark about Paypal "shutting you down"...
Ebay has an "adult" section and purchases can be paid for with Paypal...
I've sold a few mini-posters of naked models with no problems...

I trust that everyone selling photosets in this fashion is making it abundantly clear to the model before the shoot (be it TF or paid) begins that the intention of the shoot is to sell photosets.
Being open and forthcoming with this information is what an honourable business person would do.
I know, I know, the photographer holds copyright (in the USA) and is legally permitted to do whatever he/she may want with the images resulting from a shoot (as per the release) but there are some photographers that are, shall we say, less ethical than those in this thread that will attempt to market photosets from TF shoots without ever informing the model of their intent.
And no, I am not talking about ‘sharing’ the proceeds with the model; that’s between the photographer and the model.
What I am talking about is being honest.
I assumed this and I shouldn't have. This is the most important facet.
Your models have to know what you are doing with the photos. I'm not even talking about legal sense of what you can do. I'm talking about an ethical sense of what you should do.
One of the reasons I shy away from subscription is that if follows the established "porn" model. $39.99 and all the bewbs you can see.

The problem is PayPal has no defined standard. It the opinion of someone on their worst day at work you have to worry about. And then they hold your money for 6 months and you have NO ZERO NADA recourse.
Gotcha. That makes sense in the case of the montage of stills. It would seem empty without a bit of music accompaniment. I was thinking of chronicling a live shoot on video.
But I do agree with you. I am never interested in hearing the photographers voice. Often in those types of videos they seem to forget the audience is there for the model and not the person behind the camera.
And, yes, it also assumes the model is engaged and has something to say lol.
Good luck on your venture.
It really depends on the plot and creative aspects of the video. There are many photographers I just could do without hearing! But then there are some videos that are actually informative because of photographers speaking. It really depends on the content of the narrative ... but in many cases, it's better to have music. While still images are showing is one case.
Is watching a model being photographed really marketable? I am sure that some fetish videos such as two models doing their feet up with nail polish is one because I've been asked to produce such a video for the foot fetish market.
Hmmmm. Let me see. Movies... have music. TV shows... have music. Commercials...have music.
Porno's...have music. Playboys videos....have music. Need I go on?
Some porns have awful .. terrible music! But then that's not what we watch porns for!

I am in complete agreement with you on this! Models and photographers who are involved in producing content for sale need to be on the same page as to knowledge of sales and proceeds.
You will need to pay somebody to host your images. If you build your own site or pay a webmaster, and then there is hosting and bandwidth, plus paying a cc processor, all cost money. If you have your own site built, 100% of your take initially will go to paying these people to get your site up and running.
Better to use the 4sales sites first to get your business up and running to build a following. The 40% is cheap compared to the above costs. Later after building a following, you can start your own site. And, you can still keep your 4sales accounts selling too. Good luck!

The *4sale sites are the easiest way to sell stuff, just be advised they take a 40% cut to be your middelman.

That is the problem I have with Paypal ... and didn't Zivity.com have a problem with Paypal? The owner was a former execuative or something like that with Paypal, but they resolved it. I just don't like the idea of anyone holding on to my money!

Point well made. Hard to make the argument against honesty and candor.
The llamas I shoot TF are told their images will be used in my (free) daily e-mail and seem to welcome it. Not *quite* the same as selling.
But the llamas whose images have drawn interest from customers wanting to buy videos and photosets were paid for posing.
Re: Paypal,
My personal experience is this:
Much, much easier to work with than ANY CC's...
Usually any disputes are resolved in a few days...not weeks or months.
PP rarely "holds" your money as long as you don't have a record of disputes.
Charge-backs from CC's are common, take weeks to resolve and rarely
go in favor of the vendor...
Sales of "adult" material online can be a huge money maker but isn't w/o
it's share of problems...(like any business really!)
Re: music,
Maybe you are familiar with Andrew Blakes work...He has collaborated with a person called Raoul Valve for many, many years.
Blake does all the film/video...Valve,the music.
Fantastic combination of talent IMHO...

If you are in the hot girl bewbs business you will have a record of charge backs and disputes. That is if you do good business. PayPal is the worst option for any artist. You have NO recourse beyond begging if you disagree with them.
And when they let you go and hold your money... they won't even tell you why. They will just say "we feel it is no longer in our interest to do business with you."
I would also recommend the 4sale sites. I actually use them myself and while its true that they take a 40% cut out of your profits, there is still a lot of money to be made. Just make sure you advertise very well and you should have no problem making $70-80 dollars a day.
Nate Marshall TFM wrote: if you need original sound that is royalty free you can get a subscription to videoblocks.com for like 20 a month.. they also have a FREE 7 day trial.
You can also get video clips and all that for video and still backdrops. We are going to start experimenting with this soon.
This went from selling photo sets to video rather quickly!
The actual content of your photo sets is important. If it is anything that "could" be considered porn, then Paypal is far too risky to use! Even if they have a separate division for adult, it's not something that Paypal specializes in. So that leaves CCbill ... or you can set up your own merchant account if you know how to go about it.
Music being in the public domain has nothing to do with a copyrighted recording of said composition. All recorded works are copyrighted and owned by somebody. Public Domain refers to the copyright of a composition not a recording.
There are a number of sources of royalty free music. That doesn't mean that you don't have to pay for the use; you pay a one price, up-front, usage fee. Another source for royalty free music is : www.sounddogs.com I've used their music for over 10 years for indie short films.
