I'm going to have to agree. The concept is good, but the color and tone don't do you justice. You're a gorgeous girl. Maybe try having the photo edited in a different way?

I just saw the original photo....and man with just a few MINOR curve adjustments that shot is good outta the box. I see no need to really mess with it.

I don't like it at all. Too much of a bad thing. You have a lot of good photos in your portfolio, some with some very nice treatments, this one doesn't compare even with no post.
Thank you for your input. We don't learn if we don't try. I was bored and wanted to do something extremely different. Sometimes what we try works, sometimes it fails. I want to learn to edit the way Silvers does and I only have the choice of trial and error. I appreciate the input and would like to know what you suggest to make the un-curves one better.
C - The version I have up now is not all jacked up like the one everyone hated.
Ammm C - A.S. doesn't share his knowledge. All angsty and what not you know.

I'm with you 100% on this.
Being self taught, I try something different almost every time I shoot. My hat is off to you for experimenting.
As far as this Un-curves you mention, I have no clue what that would mean but I have seen many artists talk about tonal mapping which might be a place to start and then work backwards into what you were attempting, OR ask this "Silvers" for some pointers.
You should be applauded for trying new things. We don't improve unless we try, and mistakes are often the best teachers. This image should be a very good teacher.
In order of significance:
- The color balance is way off.
- The main lighting is soft and weak on the model.
- It appears you had a light behind the chair. The cutouts in the top of the chair show a really bright light, though that light doesn't provide results elsewhere in the shot.
I'm not a huge fan of the concept/look going on in this image, but I have to say, it looks soooooo much better now. The skin still looks a touch to cool/blue, but overall, nice re-edit.
BTW, I really like the warmer tones in your avatar- much more flattering to skin IMO.
So there was a switcheroo going on here. Even though I'm looking at it with my MacBook, I didn't see the curves everyone was complaining about. Then I find out the picture has been switched. Kind of wish the new one had been added later in the thread, instead of just replacing the photo in the OP.

Yeah, it's always more helpful when the original is left up for comparison.
There you go critique away. I also have zero interest in a standard studio, fashion, lighting shoot look. I want something different. Light, shadows, drama, mood and feeling.
