So I've been toying with the idea of getting bangs for awhile...or any other low maintenance cut that will switch things up a bit.  I'm terrible at visualizing how things will look on me so any ideas you guys have (with pics is best) would be super amazing!

This is my current hair (and a super unflattering pic tongue )

I have absolutely no idea what to do with hair.  Mine is so straight that I can't imagine how to make curly hair like yours into low maintenance.

sad  Sowwy.

As it is now, it's low maintenance.  I just meant that I don't want a cut that needs styling everyday.

Is your hair naturally very curly or wavy, especially near the roots? If so bangs might not be the best option, unless your hair straightens well and stays that way.

You'd probably need quite heavy bangs to make this happen with your hair type and they'd have to be cut slightly longer than what you think is  right to allow for some lift if the hair curls, particularly if you wet cut it.

In that picture you have a side parting (either by choice or accident) so a side fringe could work well to ease you into the style, the bonus being growing it out is easier. Or you could be really brave and go for blunt straight bangs. I personally think the former would suit you better.

Maybe you could buy a hair piece that clips in to see if it suits first?

DO NOT DO IT.

Bangs+curly hair=high maintenance or looks like you got lost in the 80s and couldn't find your way out.

I'd maybe experiment with learning different braids or buns. When I braid my hair, I don't even have to use hair ties, and it never takes more than 10 minutes.

It straightens well *now*...no idea how it would be if it were that short.

I think side fringe may work...just not sure how hard it is to get bangs to stay like that or how I'll look...I is sc'rd

Are there clips like that that look real-ish?

Heh...even on my hair?  It's not nearly as curly as yours.

Eh...I don't think that braids suit me (for the most part).  I do messy buns but other than that I look like a librarian...and not the hot sexy kind.

I definitely wouldnt try bangs with your hair, there would never ever ever be an opportunity to just shower and go, you would always have to spend time drying and styling your hair or your bangs would curl up real tight/stick straight out.

I figured for rush days I could pin them back if I kept them long enough.

Still may or may not go crazy on you.

Though, perhaps Im wrong. The first time I cut my hair real short, if I didnt dry straighten and style it, it wanted to do little babydoll ringlets all over my head. Was such an pain in the ass.

7 years later Im prepared to deal with that again, cut it, now it dries straight. hmm So who knows.

I do not, I managed to escape that whole year without many horrific photos taken. I think the worst shots I ever got were of my dye jobs, mostly bleaching, I looked like an anime character.

They also didnt do it evenly around my whole head. I mightve been okay with that if that had been the case, but it wasn't. Parts would curl really tight, parts would just have bumps in them, parts would be straight, parts would stick out funny. I dont know what changed, but oh my god am I glad for it, this is the most hassle-free hairstyle Ive ever had.

LoL awwww

I know that my hair will always require *some* work since it's curly...I just want something new without upping the time spent taking care of it too much.

My mom used to tell the hair-stylist to try new things in my hair because she said that it was plain (idk...curly and red, don't think there's any hair type that's less "plain") she got it layered once and it did this little flip thing and it was terrible.  It looked like I belonged in the original Charlie's Angels.  After that I took over my hair styling choices.

I, as a fellow curly haired girl, say NO TO THE BANGS.

And for context, I considered them too and decided it was way high maintenance and had many a stylist tell me I'd have to straighten them every day.

For something cute and different, you could go short. I never, EVER thought I could pull it off, but to my surprise I spent the money for a GOOD stylist who found a shape and style that was super retro and chic WHEN CURLY!

I threw some bobby pins in and woo, STYLE!

Let me find some good pics...

Would you consider something like this?

I used myself as an exaple because I can safely say it was the lowest maintenance hair I ever had aside from keep up the cut. Two bobbypins and some mousse. Five minutes tops and cute!

It is really cute on you...I think I want to make baby steps though LoL.  I've had long hair my entire life and since it's kind of a medium curl, it's hard to tell what it would do if I cut it that much.  I has a scared.  Also, not sure how it would work with my features.

Fair enough! To be honest, I HAD to do it because my hair was ruined. At that point I was too devastated and frustrated to be scared! But since I was pleasantly surprised, I thought I'd throw it out there.

But it's a BITCH to regrow!!!!!

I've been missing my long hair for a long time.

Though with curls, you have to keep paying for cuts or it really gets awkward sad

So I decided it wasn't worth the upkeep financially.

On the other hand, long hair with curls looks epic, so I never need to get it cut or shaped! borat yay us!
