So I work in retail, as a MUA and everyday I get astonished by the lack of knowledge about hygiene and skincare routine my customers have, or don't...
The typical : Oh I should wash my liquid foundation brush everytime?
The questionnable : I borrow everyone's mascara/lip stuff
When a customer come to me about foundation, I always start asking what is their routine, what do they use to wash/moisturize and so... It is a good way for me to point out (for myself) what skintype they are and what they could improve to get better results.
Never EVER I will judge them or make them feel uncomfortable about their habits, I prefer (if I feel the door is open) to help by guiding them in the right path.
I just find it so sad how many ladies and gents don't really know how to take care of their skin, and how 85% of the time they will blame it on the foundation causing them all these troubles... You can't really blame them because so many times they bought foundation at the drugstore without any help.
Just again today I helped a young lady choosing a liquid foundation, she told me she wanted to ''brighten'' her skintone (she was very pale, Irish pale...) so when I finished questionning her I realized she had no idea what so ever about foundation, she was using a scented body moisturizer on her face and didnt really understand why she was breaking out lately. Also found out that she never cleaned her brush, she just dips it (her words) in makeup remover.
I feel so good when I know I can help, she left happy, almost in tears when she saw the results we came to.
But what about those ladies and gents you know you can't really change their mind/habits...
The other day I had a lady telling me she won't moisturize because she didnt like the texture on her face, but on the other side she was complaining about her skin aging quickly and how she couldnt find any foundation fitting her... o_0
