Only you can be comfortable doing whatever YOU want to do. Don't let other people tell you what you can and can't do when it comes to your comfort levels and what you want to shoot.
There are plenty of other models willing to shoot nudes so there's no need for you to do it if you don't feel comfortable with it.
Having said that, if you are considering giving it a try, then my advice would be to use an alias and do your first nude shoot with a photographer whose work you like and who YOU contact, rather than the other way around.

As a photographer, I'd rather not shoot a model who is not really comfortable being nude. It shows in the final image. Any photographer who pushes you to do nudes [b]probably/b] cares more about seeing you naked than about creating beautiful images.
I understand why someone would ask you to pose nude, but if you say you're not interested, just say "no thanks" and that should be the end of it. There are thousands of other models who are willing to pose nude and who can fill the slots you turn down.

I loved doing nudes and I love my body. It was so much fun and I'm probably a lot better at nudes haha but it's just my personal choice not to do them, not a discussion of being comfortable, because I really am
I, actually, used to be very timid and private about my body when I was younger (like my 21 years makes me all that old and wise). That quickly changed for a variety of reasons. Honestly, I've always enjoyed nude art - being the art (history in particular) junky that I am. I found it more of a natural thing when I started modeling nude. It's not hard to strip, physically. But, there's a mental space your head is in when you take any sort of action. My head space was uncomfortable and comfortable both. Being naked? No problem. Caring what anyone else may possibly think? That was my issue. It no longer is and, therefore, I know I am able to grow and advance - and I have. But, like everyone else has said, don't do it for someone else. My advice is don't do it if you're going to have even the smallest thought creep into your head and make you doubt yourself. If you decide to try it, go for it. When/If you figure out you don't like it or aren't a nude model, you'll stop and that will be the end of it. You're allowed to say okay, turn around, and decide against something. Keep that in mind as you pursue anything in life. You ultimately call the shots.
I've gotten to the point where taking my clothes off isn't worth it unless the photographer in question isn't going to make me regret my decision. Am I comfortable doing it? Yes. Am I picky? Very.

I agree. If the model feels awkward, you don't get nudes, you get nakeds.
Also, if the model is uncomfortable in this session, she won't look forward to the next session, even with another photographer. Models need to be treated with respect, so they continue to enjoy modelling.

My first photo shoot was a nude/implied shoot. I'm the type of person that jumps into the deep end and then swims to the shallow end. I started with the thing that made me the most uncomfortable and nervous. Way I see it, if I can shoot nudes, anything else is a piece of cake.
If you're not comfortable with it, then don't do it. Kindly decline the request, if they don't respect that, don't work with them.
It sounds like you are already aware that you would not be comfortable with nudity, so just don't go there. You have to be comfortable with everything you do. It's great that you realize this is not for you. As others have said, it will show in the pictures if you are not comfortable with what you are doing.
I started out modelling in the nude for artists and photographers when I was 35 and have always been really comfortable with being nude in front of them. Sometimes it is just one and many times it has been a large group of 15 or 20 artists in a gallery or classroom setting. The people I model for have always been very respectful of my choice to model nude, as well as the types of poses I will and will not do, and that is important to me.
Not everyone feels the same way though, so each person has to go with their own feelings.

If you do not want to show too much skin the do not do it. It will depend on the shoot, the concept, the photographer and your intention.
If someone is trying to talk you into it after a shoot has begun and you have any doubt at all I suggest you decline and if they persist then end the shoot.
I have done art shoots and the intent was nudity, only once did I switch to an implied after a shoot started and it was after the photographer asked how I'd feel about it in a particular shot because of our location. The way he asked, and the concept he brought up sounded perfectly okay to me, so I did. I suggest that you must be comfortable with everything involved in it and I wouldn't necessarily do your first nude at the urging of someone else, last minute.

I am usually comfortable. It is a personal choice. YOU have to make that decision and never let anyone talk you into something you are not comfortable with. YOUR body Your choice. If you never do nudes then that doesn't devalue your art. If you do nudes it doesn't devalue your character.

Ideally, that "point" would be from the very beginning.
I try to not do any shoots where I'm going to regret the decision. Ideally, I don't do any where the model does.

After reading your bio...your impressive bio I might add...modeling is not something you're looking to pursue as a career. It seems to be more of a hobby to overcome being camera shy and gain self esteem. Kudos for that by the way.
So there's really no reason to feel pressured to pursue ANY path, nude or otherwise. Of course many photographers will ask. You're an attractive female. But even the photographers who would like to photograph you nude would not want you to agree because you felt coerced or pressured.
Yeah, always have been. Don't feel any different naked than I do clothed, really. Only thing that can make it uncomfortable is someone else's reaction.
art is not necessarily about comfort. skin or not.
Physical discomfort, sure.
Psychological discomfort, not so much. And nudity is a hugely psychological issue.
Anyway, I personally thing of it as: what is so wrong with my body that I have to cover it up. I'm comfortable in my own skin, so I have no problem showing it.
Artistic nudes are beautiful, and you have a great figure and would work well with them. But, comfort with nudes isn't everything. You have to think about your work life. If you intend to work in private industry, even artistic nudes can get in the way of that. You have to be sure of it since they will be on the net forever. Then, you can decide if you will be comfortable doint these beautiful types of shots. Don

I doubt very few people are super-comfortable llamaing nude for the first time.
Should you ever decide to, you'll realize "hey, I have a great body, and it's nothing to be ashamed of!"
That's what happened to me.
I assume because you ask, you have that feeling in the back of your mind, but don't know how you'd feel about it once started. If that's the case, and you know you'll be uncomfortable at first, try being uncomfortable with someone you trust who you know won't take advantage of the situation. A photographer you like, your significant other, or someone like that.

My first shoot was a fully nude one. The photographer was a friend from way back. I was comfortable but nervous. I think those are two completely different things and they can coexist.
Yes I am.. But only if it feels right with the photographer.. But then, I'm a nudist at heart so I'm happy when I run around naked... just feels free... personal choice..

i shot nudes on my second photo shoot. yes, i am comfortable with being nude. though that photographer was paying me anyway, i knew that i'd have to get used to being nude for the camera if i wanted to make money. i have now done hundreds, if not thousands, of nude shoots. it's very comfortable for me.
if you are trying to make a living modeling, you may need to do nude work. [i'm not saying you should if you don't want to. i would instead suggest trying to make a living some other way.] if you are not looking for paid work, and you aren't comfortable with nudes, then don't do them. find someone else to work with.
