Do you have your own wardrobe closet for models in studio?

How "stocked" is it ?? and how the heck do you even size something like that ???

We have a load of things in different sizes but it usually winds up what the model wants is not in her size! Would like to increase the size and variety of choices myself.

we have a rack of stuff in the back of the studio. but mostly we rely on what the model brings or sometimes we'll buy something specifically for a shoot (walmart clothes are inexpensive).

for boudoir we have a couple men's dress shirts and some white tanks. mostly we have props like boas and hats and such. women call all the time wanting us to have full boudoir wardrobe and i just don't see how that's practical (plus you probably don't want to be sharing anything worn on the bare bottom). they just need to hit victoria's secret the week before the shoot.

I had thought of the men's dress shirts and tees ... and I do have prop boxes ... but wardrobe is non-existant ... and really, how the heck do I cover all the friggin size differences ... 0.o

I used to keep a fairly large wardrobe when I shot alot of well paid series. Most of my models I would select based on size etc, so a large range of sizes usually wasn't an issue. My biggest issue, was everything kept disappearing. For some reason really cute things seem to grow legs in the middle of the night and walk out - very smart clothes they could even lock the door behind them.

In my studio closet, a wide assortment of leather, handcuffs, ropes, panties, stockings, bras, lingerie, floggers, clamps, gags and blind folds. But nothing for the models. big_smile

We have over 350 dresses/outfits/costumes in wardrobe and about 200 pairs of shoes and boots (not to mention hats, belts, jewelry, accessories, parasols, weapons, props, faux foods, glasses, wings, boas, gloves, etc.)  Most wardrobe these days are custom made by us or commissioned to designers in areas where we do not have the expertise to make (like corsets).

Everything is photographed and maintained in a database, with copies on iPad for easy reference.  Primary wardrobe is re-used, but all lingerie and panties are given to the model to take with her as they are never re-used.

Great info ...

How do you keep stuff from walking away ... ?

Do you work it out like changing rooms in the retail stores ??

I often buy a dress or outfit for a specific model, supplying her measurements to the designer. Most of the models I shoot are small to medium size and latex does stretch a bit.

Shoes I wish I had more of, but too many sizes to keep a lot here. I try and match them to the wardrobe and the primary model.

Often I'll sell wardrobe after using it two or three times.

I don't have a lot- but the things I do have? Mostly, a model comes and doesn't want something after shooting in it- so I get it big_smile

Yes, mainly club wear, swimsuits, and lingerie. I tend to order from Amazon or Wicked Temptations http://www.wickedtemptations.com/ .

Size is easy small or extra small. I also have a collection of boots and high heels usually around sized around 7-9. I have things like jewelry and sunglasses.

For the outfits below I spent $10-35 per outfit.
I found it is easier to supply the look you want than rely on the model.

I've been looking for the link after reading this post but can't find it. A couple months back when I was just a lurker on MM, I followed a link off of a profile to their business website.  The photographer/studio did boudoir.

They said they provided props, but they offered packages that included wardrobe.
It was basically an online store where you picked the lingerie you wanted, in the size/color you wanted, and it would be on location for your shoot.

They probably partner with an actual store to offer that and get a kickback on the sales.

I thought it was neat..... If I remember where I saw it, I will post the link.
