Just did a shoot and shot about 150 photos. These were all the keepers

So 150 shots and 13 keepers. Shootings multiple kids is nuts.

Shooting families with small kids automatically reduces the number of keepers ... generally, because it means I intentionally shoot more total pictures!

Last two shoots I did I gave them my rate posted proofs on my site let them pick 10 for me to edit and give them on CD. I gave them a few more than what they picked some I liked.
Say you have a family of 4 and you shoot the together 20 shots maybe 2 or 3 are great so they pick. Other wise they would want me to edit every photo.

On family and kid shoots I typically take between 50-60 images .
There are on average 40-50 keepers..

The package includes 10 images, but all of my clients usually pay for 10-20 additional ones smile

So if you had a family like my example with 3 small kids you would have such a high keeper rate? That is amazing and shows how much I got to learn.

It's pointless to compare keeper rates between photographers and even between shoots.

You could give the same set of photos to two photographer to select keepers from and one might consider 3 keepers the other might consider 50.

It's more about standards than the images.

I normally have clients bring the kids' favorite toys and have my assistant twirl them around behind me to try to get the kids' attention.  I have had a pretty decent amount of success with that.  Of course, it's always better if the parents aren't in the shot and they can get the kids' attention for me.
