What is the best way of driving traffic to your portfolio here on MM? I figured that instead of putting a photo of myself as my profile picture that I would put someone that I shot and that would drive traffic to my port. I don't know if thats working since the number of views are low.

I don't drive traffic to mine at all. smile
It doesn't seem to have made any difference. I'm just here to post the occasional casting call and chat on the forum.
What are you trying to do?

Have you tried announcing when you on mm? Also try commenting on others port  photos many times that will get people to look at your work. You can also try to get in on some of the subjects being discussed on the forums. It all takes time but the more you make yourself known on mm the more you'll be seen.

LMBO @BP yea those are the ones that have hundreds of views! Lol! When I look at other profiles whether its models or fellow photographers I will see hundreds of views on certain images and I was just commenting on how to achieve views like that. I guess my thinking is if someone liked your work they would be apt to want to work with you.

It only takes 1 view from the right person then.

While driving traffic to your port is good because it will gain awareness, I think driving traffic to your website should be your main focus.

I wouldn't equate views with someone liking your work (or not liking it).  When I decide if I want to work with a model, my first impression comes from the overall portfolio, so views has nothing to do with it.  Then I might look at some pictures, which may in fact give me information to tell me that I DON'T want to work with her.  I will assume the models act somewhat the same way when choosing togs.

When using your port to attract models, I recommend variety and polish.  Make the models all look good.  Post fashion type shots or really good beach shots.  Sell them on the fantasy of a Vogue-like cover shot or Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition quality.  That is what I think the majority of amateur models on here want.

Throw in some edgier stuff that may attract alt models, but mostly appeal to the masses.

Just my opinion, but I am not here to try to attract the most models and the only thing that works for me is cash.

Just so you know, I do not consider my portfolio to follow this advice.

Also, put your best stuff at the top and don't use pages or albums.

You beat me to the punch...I was gonna suggest posting a bunch of mediocre shots of llamas airing out their ovaries and crosslinking in forums / social media.  big_smile

This seems to be the secret of winning the daily 18  contests too...

When you put up a casting, any model interested in it will check out your portfolio and profile, before applying. That's mainly what it's for.

The other people who you want to look at your profile are local models, who are looking to work with you and anyone offering paid work, that you're interested in. Keep checking casting calls.

You could also search out the profiles of the people you want to view yours and leave a comment or tag. That will let them know you're there and they might even take a peek.

A thousand views of an image may be from a thousand people who have nothing to offer you and have no interest in working with you.
