Go to the beach, solely to watch the waves. Watch the waves. It always makes me feel better, might work for you.

This. Settle on the beach, close your eyes, and listen. Relax. It's beautiful- one thing I miss about living in CA while I was there!

What I wasn't really entirely open about is that I came here to see a Dr.
He's supposed to be like Dr. House from TV.

I was supposed to see him my first day here and then his office requires you to stay in town a minimum of 4 days.

I saw him the first day, my 8pm appointment was two hours late, so I was rushed out because there was still a whole mess of people waiting into the wee hours of the evening. They told me I would have to come back the next day to finish. I needed 3 more tests before I would be done. They told me 2 of the test I could just show up for, and a third, a woman would be calling me to give me deails on at 8am the following morning.

I'm upset that I must cancel my AM plans  with friends and MM'ers because of their disorganization, but que sera...
The next morning I return to the office and did the first test no problem. The second test took alllllllllllllll day.
The woman who was supposed to call me about the 3rd test at 8am never called, so the office left her a reminder voicemail, and after a few more hours went by with no contact, I did the same.

I tried to get someone to meet me for dinner/drinks/ movie ANYTHING at around 7 when I finally was free and nobody was around or had the time for me.

Today she made contact via email asking if I was local. UHH NOPE!
I was told to sit tight, plans were on the way.
I have been sitting tight ALLLLLLL DAY in my hotel room, alone and dreafully upset that I had to cancel on a lovely MM model who made time in her busy day for me.

I feel I should have just ignored them and gone. I could have gone and done anything today and it wouldn't have mattered because their office has never contacted me back.

When I last spoke to the secretary she claims she never received any emails or voicemails from myself or the office.

My entire day was needlessly wasted.

I am now assuming at past 5pm, that there is NO chance she will be calling me back, and I fly home tomorrow a little after 1:30. So far I can't even book a taxi to the airport because of the possibility that they might manage to call me back and get me an early AM appointment tomorrow.

So basically, aside from the AWESOME CleeIB, who picked me up from the LAX the first day hung out with me until my appointment, I haven't seen a single human since.

I so desperately want to get out and do SOMETHING, and i'm amazed that I'm having a hard time finding a play mate in Beverly Hills sad I didn't get a car which appears to be a grave error, as there is not even food in walking distance.

I called and ordered in yesterday night, they told me it would take 2 hours for my food to arrive, after 2 hours 15 mintues, I called and asked what was going on....they had forgotten about me. They said they would place my order again, but I would be at the bottom of the line, and would have to wait another 1 1/2 hours minimum. Meaning, my dinner would arrive at approximately 5am. I said forget it.

This entire thing has been one big lonely depressing mess.

Damn...I'm sorry, that really sucks.  Is there anyway to stay longer?  Is it likely that he'll be able to diagnose you without that test or was it necessary?  How do you feel about shanking a bitch?

I most definately feel like shanking a bitch. The test that they're not getting back to me about is an MRI because we're looking for tumors, which is not information I want to just sit on with no action for days.

I can't stay any longer. It's very expensive. My flight is booked, I only have the hotel for tonight and the office just "forgot" to mention to me that ONE of the first tests was $900 and had to be paid up front in CASH I mean, totally, who doesn't go to the Doctor with $900 cash in your pocket? Totes.

On top of that the day after I come home, I have to have oral surgery.

This trip was supposed to be relaxing and a fun break, since in theory I would have 3 1/2 straight days of playtime

I had a painful procedure the 26th, that took me all week to even start to recover from, then this trip was supposed to be awesome flavored awesome;  a few days break in my surgery sandwich before I come home to have my gums turned into sushi.

Yeah, but going out with you during a weeknight would require for me, that I drive down there, take time off work and all that stuff.

Had your Dr House been up in the Bay, I'd totally come knock on your door and shank up the doctor with you.  I'd let you sit on my shoulders so you'd be eye to eye with him.

This guy better be fucking amazing!

Since it's an MRI, can you have that done at home and just mail the images to him?  It will probably be a little wait but at least it can still get done...

Wow...what ended up happening?  It sounds like they did that test, right?

Sorry your trip got jacked by the communication-impaired staffers. Mostly though I'm hoping that whatever has got you visiting fancy doctors goes away.

Hope your next trip to CA is just about fun.

I got an exciting call this morning that my MRI was scheduled for 2:30pm. This would mean I'd have to miss my flight, but I'd find out if I have a tumor which is weighing heavily on my mind.

I make some calls bla blee blue blah and try to work it all out.  I was on the phone with the Hospital trying to see if maybe they have a shuttle direct to the airport from the Hospital ( a girl can hope, right?) The woman on the other line mentions casually that she doesn't know what things with be like on Tuesday.

Tuesday?
It's Friday. I corrected her.
She told me, that yes, but my appointment was for Tuesday afternoon.
http://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/gallery/no/tracey-morgan-nope.gif
no...No....NO...NO

God fucking damn it. Really?

So I had to obviously cancel that. She tried to get me in today, but after an hour of back and forth, it just wasn't possible. If I went in today, I would not be able to get on a flight until Sunday, and the airline would charge me a fee that was almost twice what I paid for a one way ticket.

Eventually I gave up on the MRI and focused on just getting back to NY.
I rushed to the airport to make the 4:30 flight. I got here at 3:45 to find the entire Jet blue terminal closed.

Soooo I missed my 4:30 EVEN THOUGH I WAS AT THE AIRPORT ALREADY, because there was nobody to check me in.

So, now it's 8:11, I'm on standby for an 8:50 flight that will start boarding in 9 minutes, then, let the the hunger standby games begin.
If I get on this flight. I will get into NY at 5am. If not..well.... I'm stuck here overnight, and an extra charge of $400.

Why were you at the airport so late? Why didnt you contact someone at the airport? Or better yet, why didnt you use the kiosk to just check yourself in?

I was at the airport so late, because I was not supposed to be on that flight in the first place. My original flight was the flight before. I spend a long time on the phone with Jet blue to see how I could work out both, and MRI and a flight home in one day, since I had purchased insurance that covers hospital situations and unforeseen circumstances. My insurance would run up at the last flight, so I decided once all that was left was the MRI to just haul ass. On the phone the woman said she' would make a note on my Jetblue account that i was rushing to get home had missed my filght because I had surgery early the 8th, I couldn't have my flight pushed back any further.

What she did not anticipate was that Jet Blue only employs 4 people per shift for LAX, which explains why I missed the first flight.

I got on at the last second of the last flight out, got to NY at 5 something in the morning, got home, changed and went in for oral surgery.

Now I'm happily in New York Droolin' all up in this piece. smile

I'll get an MRI here once my mouth is totally healed and hopefully the results from the first two tests will hopefully give me an idea what is going on before I even schedule an MRI.

I think I'll be avoiding traveling when everyone else is holding the cards for a long while.

I still can't believe that the doctor's office dropped the ball like that.  You'd think that a doctor with a House-level reputation would be used to having patients fly in just to see him and would be more organized.

Everyone I met in his office was from out of state. The whole reason the ball got rolling on this in the first place is I qualified for a long distance grant.
Patients seem so grateful that his receptionists aren't actually receptionists, but patients who volunteer to hang around in lab coats. ( I have mixed feelings about this). I think this caused some of the scheduling problems as a volunteer doesn't have the same time and organizational levels of someone where it's their primary job.

One of the staff left a very incriminating message on my voicemail. I can't put it publicly here, but let's just say it's playing fast and loose with the rules.

After everything was fucked beyond repair, I was given a call to let me know that all that was left for me to do was Pray.

From there on out I was pretty much like:
