I actually own 2 CA Sunbounces and love them.  I guess it all depends on just how cheap you wanna go.  For about $7, you can go down to Wal-Mart and pickup a few of those dashboard heat reflectors that do a pretty good job... for something quick and dirty... lol

Not as big for sure, but still effective if you're on a budget

Its the Ca sunbounce shape that makes it so appealing. I havent found other reflectors like it. Also it has an arm adapter for a flash to bounce off light. I think they have a tight rope on copycats. Nothing coming out of Asia yet.

I been a fan of DIY projects. I did flash bounce cards before tho this looks like a more skilled project. I also wonder how they charge outrageous prices on light panels when you can pull something similar off for a few dollars.

"Skilled" lol... if you can put one end of a pvc pipe into a fitting, poke a hole in fabric, and hammer without hitting your thumb (I still did a couple times) you're good to go.

Calumet in Fort-Lauderdale has the zebra-gold, translucent and other fabrics in comparable sizes.  I bought an adjustable 40$ garment rack from Bed, Bath and Beyond as an easy to assemble 48x72 lightweight frame.  The neatness clips from calumet are the right gauge to fasten their fabrics onto the garment racks tubes.

I like California Sunbounce, but I tend to use these more mainly because they are easy to travel with and can be held by one assistant.

Most DIY ones don't work so well in the field. If you can afford it CA sunbounce is worth it. Calumet has 4x6 metallic frame and you can get different color reflector panel or diffusion panels for it. They also have different sizes. Wait for their sale and you can pick 4x6 for $70-$80.

Chimera is also nice, probably half the cost of CA sun bounce. But I have yet to see something like sun swatter from other mfg.

For indoors I prefer larson reflectasol.
