I don't feel like there is much variety in your facial expressions, and you occasionally look bored.  I think you have good body positioning in a lot of poses.

Delete everything you currently have and start over. Practice expressions, poses, and work with better photographers.

Hi Alice,

Here are some thoughts I hope will be helpful.  I’m a firm believer that showing less and leaving ore to the imagination gets people’s interest up, so my overall comment is to try and edit things down. See if you can get down to 10 or so great shots and try not to repeat anything.  For instance you have 5 shots of you in this dress http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#30928725 . I’m not convinced that any of these are super strong photos so if you can get it down to just one, that would be a lot better.

I’m not a big fan of the lifestyle types of photos, which don’t look as professional so I would try and weed out most of the ones like this where you have jeans and a cami on http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#29119325 it looks a bit like somethingsomeone snapped on a cell phone.

If the ring in your lip is removable, I would show it only in one or two shots where it’s really connected to the theme of the photos so that photographers know it isn’t a limit they have to work around.

The wings are also redundant.  I like this one more http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#29101128

I sort of like the mystic quality in this one http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#26043280 I’m not convinced it looks professional but I think it shows you well so I would keep it for now. But you should choose between this and http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#14875600 because they are showing us the same look.

This http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#16510150 I think is the most professional looking photo so far. I love that is shows another look for you, and it shows off really well your great figure.  This might make a good avatar

http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#16182738 I like that you are taking some risks here and that you have an interesting outfit on, but the color feels really murky so I’d pull this photo out.

http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#14996627 this photo I think also feels decently professional and shows a completely different look. I kind of love it. It’s a keeper.

http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#14958271 I think you can keep this too.  It’s stylized enough that it doesn’t look like just another snap shot, and I can see you have good bone structure and pretty eyes.

http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#12518338 This is a decent shot.  It’s much more in the lifestyle camp than the glamour but it gives me a really good idea what you look like. I’d keep this one, but get rid of the next one that does kind of the same thing but not very well.  http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#12520489  And I’d cut this one http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#12520498  where you eyes look like they have dark circles and I can’t see you very well

http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#11331472 has a fun outfit and shows off your figure but has odd background/setting issues.  I would cut it.  It doesn’t look very pro.

http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#11155026 this is OK but if you already have a lifestyle type of picture, like the one with the blue door behind, then it’s a bit redundant.  But it’s helpful to see your face close up and fairly clearly, so maybe you want this one instead. You have a pretty face and it isn’t featured very much in your photos.

http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#10370706 similar to the last one, but I love the birds in the background. On the other hand, you as a model, don’t want me looking at the birds in the background. Oh, and the glasses, like the lip ring, I would only use in one shot.  You may wear them most of the time in real life, but as a model, no.

http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#10108970 just like the last photo, the background is more interesting than you.  This is a cool photos, but it doesn’t show you off well so I would cut it.

http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#10012134 this is a good close up. I like it. I like the style.  It doesn’t say “model” but it does show what you look like.  I’d say it’s a keeper but I worry you have too many lifestyle type photos going on the keeper list. You might try for more shoots that are about the clothes and styling to help round things out.

http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#9988080  I like that this shows a different look for you, with the pony tales. It’s a bit on the arty side for a model portfolio, but I’d keep it for now.

http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#6053452 this you must keep. It’s a whole different look, the first time I’ve seen your hair strait, and it’s decently done.
http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#6060370 this clearly came from the same shoot at the last one and you aren’t as attractive in it so I would cut this

http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#6060361 and I would cut this because I can hardly make out what is going on in the photo and I can’t see well your shape, your face, your body or your work as a model.

http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#12792114 I like the colors in this, but it isn’t doing anything special for you. It makes your waist look a bit thick.  I would cut this one.

http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#14501391  love this. If you didn’t have the lip ring I would wonder if that was even you.  Keep this one. It’s clear and shows a different look.

http://www.modelmayhem.com/677602#14168241 this one I think is a keeper too.  It’s got more of a romantic feel than anything else in your collection.

There you go.  I hope this is helpful.  I’m just building a portfolio for the first time myself so if you want to return the favor by sharing your thoughts on which of my photos you like best that would be much appreciated.

You have a beautiful face and if you lived in Seattle area I would shoot with you and I know we would make some awesome photos together.

Best of luck

Start with a clean, simple headshot and use it for your avatar.  When I search for a model for a project, it's hard to see what you look like in just a thumbnail.

Second, give me a simple digital polaroid so I can see your figure.  Remember, the artsy stuff doesn't make me want to shoot with you, I need to know if you'll fit MY art.

Last, avoid cliche's.  Like angel wings.
