I have a half dozen grids, and use which ever one is needed for the shoot.

Similarly I have white, silver and gold beaty dishes and reflectors.

They all have different properties.

The range of grid angles for a BD are usually less than for a standard reflector. My Hensel BD has 2 options for the former and 4 for the latter. At a little over £200 for the grid I'll admit to only using the grid that came with the dish, the '#3'. Given the space that I'm usually in the #4 ( wider ) would be useful for fuller length images but less useful for getting the background light fall-off for 'head & shoulders'.
