You want to know why I love modeling so much?  There are many reasons, but I realized, I love having the opportunity to become someone else, just for a few hours.  This year, through my modeling, I've been a forest fairy, a 1950s house wife, a waitress at a diner, a lovely bride, 1940s pin up girl, an elegant movie star, a nurse, a doctor, mother nature, a holiday vixen, and others.  For me, it's fun an exciting to play those parts while incorporating a piece of myself into it.

Why do YOU love modeling?

I feel natural doing it...
It's an artful collaboration ~
I meet cool people ~

Industry people compliment me genuinely so I know I fit the bill and am doing a good job ~

It's a good pick-me-up for esteem ~

I make money from it and it has paid my rent when I'm not working a typical 'day job'...

It helps with other industries I'm involved with.

All good:)

Interestingly enough, I could leave it all tomorrow and not 'need' it for any of the reasons I described above.

It's really helped  my self esteem. I grew up thinking I was hideous, so maybe this is my way of slowly learning that I'm not so bad after all. Modeling is also something I've wanted to do for a while but never did due to a super jealous boyfriend throwing a fit every time I mentioned it... That's actually a big part of the reason he is now my EX. Lol.  But lately I've been all about empowering myself to do whatever the hell I want without being held back. And I love it!

I have a number of reasons that are just like the models above me have already listed.

It is so much fun, something interesting and different to do every time.

I thoroughly enjoy the vulnerability of presenting myself nude in front of strangers during the creative process, not knowing what will take place or what the results will be.  The comments by artists and photographers during the session and afterward are a wonderful boost to my self-esteem, and I so love to read the comments about the pictures in my portfolio or talk to people at a gallery display that features something I modelled for.

I also love to see just how different each photo session or art modelling job can be. If I model in the nude for a group of 15 or 20 artists, they will create that many totally different drawings or paintings of my pose and it is so wonderful to see what they do.

It has really filled the void that I miss since I stopped writing my poetry AND dancing in a troupe. Modeling is creative, expressive, performance and giving of yourself in a safe and protected manner. Sure it is with the photographer's vision and craft but we "are" giving as much or as little as we want to.

That and it definately is fun to know that I'm getting to be a part in some very cool pictures! smile

Finally, I enjoy getting to be around other creative, intelligent and driven people. The designers, MUAHA and photographers that I've met and worked with generally are. It is a fulfilling activity, (and so far I am only doing this as trade only.)

I love it because I get to express a side of myself that I can't in everyday, mainstream society. I especially love it now that I have a few really great glam photographers/friends that I can work with on the regular. I consider myself to be a very sexual person and glamour is a way to express that side of myself in a creative and satisfying way.

Edit: Plus, I've made some great friends and have some pretty good memories!

I mean really, what's not to love about opening your email and having photos like this waiting for you:

Its a break for me to get away and be confident.
The army for me is a self esteem killer, and modeling helps counter it.

I love not working a 9 to 5
I love working with new people everyday
I love doing something completely different everyday
I love travelling
I love the independence
I love interpreting the mood of a garment
I love expressing emotions and ideas through a photo
I love the creativity
I love challenging myself
I love getting to explore locations I know I'd otherwise never see
I love getting to see myself in ways I don't normally look
I love feeling beautiful

I can probably think of a million more reasons.

Dang Myrna, long torsos and a past with dance, we really are similar!

I love it for the art. I like using my body and face to create something beautiful. I tend to get very quiet and focused once I'm on a roll. I like thinking of myself in two dimensions, and figuring out how to translate it.

Not working 9-5 ftw! Do you know how much I scream, and cuss, and throw a hissy fit when I am stuck in rush hour traffic for a shoot. Oh, gr.

I love the adventure, the opportunities. It's never dull (except for the stuff in front of the computer).

I've also come to love the statement of being a nude model. I have developed some rather strong ideas about nudity and what it means. It certainly has a lot of meaning for me. The combination of vulnerability and affirmation is incredible.

I love the challenges. It keeps me on my toes and on edge.

It's also made me a better person. I'm more comfortable in my own skin, I know who I am better, I can stand up and respect myself as an individual professional. I wouldn't trade that for the world.

And so many other things.

I have been modeling now for some time and my LOVE of modeling is simple...learning. I LOVE learning a new craft, especially when it concerns art!

Also, I enjoy the fact that I have been blessed enough to work with many artists, designers, & photographers...

I'be been a fairy tale princess, an evil queen, a pop star, a natural beauty...
I've been in Candyland, Hollywood & Europe...
I've unintentionally transformed to another era(s)...

even more, surpassed my own expectations and found that my imperfections have become a good selling point...

It's my way of feeling like i've truly let go of my high-school self, who was tormented viciously for being tall and fat. It's like therapy for me.

Therapy that pays well (once you're established) and helps you see the world...not complaining.

Creativity is the thing I love the most and modeling is creative. I love to act, to impersonate a different woman anytime I'm in the front of the camera. I like to create something beautifull. To pull myself to obtein the most, to control my body and my expression.

I haven't modeled in a long time, but when I did it I loved it because it was so liberating and I felt freedom.  (Yes, they were nude shoots!).

But just one worthless opinion.   smile

I love how I feel when I do it. Like all of life's problems melt away. It's freeing and I get a tremendous self esteem boost from it. I like creating beautiful and not so beautiful things. I like the challenges it brings and meeting really cool people. Sometimes I make money which is neat when doing something that's so enjoyable.

In high school, I was called ugly and hideous almost every day.

So I gave modeling a shot to "see if it was true" or not.

Then, I fell in love with modeling and the people in it. I made friends in the industry.

Then,  I started getting paid for it, which was a nice and unexpected bonus smile

That's my story in a nutshell.

I love modeling because:
Even though I'm new to it, I have found something that makes me feel strong.
I'm shy and artistic,and awkward.
When I'm behind the camera, my awkward and shy melt away.
I also love fashion and design a bit myself, so I love that element also.
As a whole, I just love seeing different elements come together to create something harmonious.

I think I would be more successful if I was taller though, 5'4 life.

First of all, great thread.

The biggest reason I enjoy modelling is the feeling of freedom and what it does for my self-esteem to have the confidence to stand in front of a camera or artist.

Beyond that is seeing what else my body can become, or how I can be made to look like (especially figure drawings). To me, that's really fascinating.

Third, it's just plain fun.

I honestly like that I am helping someone else create art.  That's usually why I like photographers who do unique or unusual work.  It's nice to look glamorous or be sexy, but I honestly enjoy being a part of an artistic formation.  It's just exhilarating in all to be different characters because it's a challenge and something I enjoy!!

I wonder how many would still love llamaing doing catalog work 9-5 for a month a few weeks of and then start again.
No creative input and doing the same every day.

Like the OP, I like to step into different characters! It's so much fun!

I love modeling for so many reasons! Creative outlet, a form of self-expression, getting published, being on billboards often makes me giddy, beautiful clothes and accesories, fabulous hourly wage, traveling to exciting locations, meeting like-minded people in the industry, a flexible schedule, a reason to stay in shape and take care of myself (LOL), the thrill of producing shoots and assembling teams, being inspired by other professionals and reference photos, trying different looks and fashions with awesome MUA's, hair stylists and designers, signing autographs, a profession that opens other doors as well......I even enjoy the business side of modeling - contracts, brand building, marketing, press kits, etc.

Modeling has MANY perks! It's hard work, and I love all aspects of modeling!

What a positive thread! To the OP - thank you!

I love llamaing because it is motivational.  I workout hard and do everything I can to stay in shape.  It keeps me from feeling my age.

It's not easy.  Sometimes I compare myself to the many beautiful 20 somethings here on MM and I feel old. Especially when I realize that I am old enough to be the mother of many llamas here on MM. But then I get a nice pic comment, tag or listing and then I feel pretty good and motivated again.

I don't rely on llamaing to pay the bills (thank goodness), just for something fun to do and add variety to my days.

I enjoy meeting new people. I have developed some wonderful friendships with photographers.

Before I began modelling , I always used to look at other models and never thought I would be good enough, however throughout my journey, I met some amazing people who helped me to believe in myself and I wouldnt be here without them.

Through my modelling , I haven't just created some amazing art, but I have also been educated along the way about the creative industry. The main reasons I Love modelling is because it allows me to express my creative side through my images. Modelling also has built my self-esteem throughout the last few years and I hope to continuously create some fantastic art !!!

I, too, love being transformed into other things. Thus far, I've not transformed too much yet, but I'm definitely looking forward to it.

I also love becoming a part of a photograph. When I see gorgeous people in amazing photographs, I think, I wish I was the one in that photo!

Lastly, even though I model, I do have low self-esteem due to events that have happened in my life. Modeling not only helps my self-esteem and also helps me leave my depression behind for a while.

I'm massively self-obsessed.

Not even joking, the constant investigation of myself; my physical appearance, my nature, what I am and what I could be through the act of pretending to be someone else, or just being seen through someone else's eyes never bores me.

"The need to find another human being to share one's life with has always puzzled me. Maybe because I am so interesting all by myself. With that being said, may *you* find as much happiness with each other as I find on my own."
