She's had fights with friend B as well and I can't imagine anyone fighting with her...that was the only point I was making. To anyone who's ever seen a meme, I would think it's an obvious joke. I could understand if she was older and didn't really see memes but...that's not the case. And like I said before, she's made Jew jokes in my presence before...didn't care. She didn't change her stance even after I told her that wasn't the intent and that it was making fun of perpetually grumpy people/personified animals, she still insisted that I had done it intentionally to hurt her. To me, she's making the choice to believe that... Ok

I took it down and told her the intent and how I had read it and she still insisted that I was trying to be offensive. If she had been offended by the meme and I hadn't cared, that would be one thing...but I did talk to her about it.

It's not even about respecting the beliefs of others, it's about not being a crappy person by making light of something people feel passionate about. For the commercial world and some people, Christmas is about some fat guy and gifts. For others, it's more than that. It's not that the OP meant to be offensive, maybe she didn't, maybe she didn't. But, the fact is, she did, regardless of whether she thought so. And I disagree. *Anything* can be offensive to someone. I don't find it blatantly offensive. It's not a direct bash to Christians. It's not saying "all Christians are stupid assholes", or something awful, that would be blatant. Jesus is generally liked, even by non-Christians. Grumpy cat has memes that hate on sunshine, smiles, and babies, does that mean if I like sunshine, smiles or babies I should be offended? I like those things. If I was offended by that, that would be silly. If someone is offended, that's their choice. BTW I'm about as PC as a person can get, but even I have limits to how much I'm gonna tip toe around, especially when it comes to harmless humor

Just my two cents: Obviously, I'm Christian. Did I find the picture offensive? No. I knew about Grumpy Cat (well, I'd seen multiple memes of him anyway), so I knew where it was stemming from. Did I find it lacking in taste? A bit, yes. But, I'm also one of those people who prefers to not make fun of any religion, whether I agree with it or not because I understand how sensitive that topic may be. I know with some of my family and friends being LDS, all the Mormon bashing with Romney's campaign has made Christianity jokes a bit harder to smile through. Is it silly to rise to a cat meme? No. But, then again, I firmly support people being true to their feelings, whether I understand them or not. So, I guess to my point: Sha, some people will be offended and some won't. I don't blame you for not understanding, but I can definitely see how saying it's "something silly" to be offended by is insensitive. Edit: I really need to read all of the thread before I finish this post. Edit Part II: Okay. I've read it. I think person A is being too sensitive here. It bothers me that she had no issue saying Jewish jokes but is being butt-hurt over a cat meme. So, yes, I completely understand with the whole, "I don't understand" standpoint. With what I've said about the picture in general, I stand by my words. It could be offensive to some or not at all to others depending on how it's interpreted (funny cat-meme or good-that-Christ-allegedly-died-regardless-of-reason).

I just feel like if you'd seen the meme on my fb page, you'd know that I wasn't trying to be offensive since you've met me (as has this person). Even if you did find it offensive, I don't think that you'd be aggressive about it...you'd be like "meh, I don't like this but she wasn't trying to be hurtful", right?

Evidently, she can be defensive, hypocritical, and self-absorbed. Frankly, from what's been said, the chances she's had an original thought of her own since childhood strike me as slim at best. It's rare enough for many people, and especially people who exhibit behavior like that. So yeah. Not a great leap when you think about it.

I mean, you're friends with her and besides, nobody's totally one-dimensional. I think I've been careful not to make any judgements about her personally, since all we know about her is what you've told us. But since you consider her a friend even though she can behave like that, it kind of makes sense that she more or less blind-sided your sensibilities with this.

Honestly, she's more of an acquaintance...I mostly hang out with her for friend B. I mean before all of the drama, I liked her. She's fun. Up until the first incident I thought she was chill...there were no indications. Even after that, I thought it was an isolated incident but this makes it seem otherwise.

I don't get that about hockey. Nobody actually cares about the game - they might as well just put ice in a boxing ring.
