And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair, “Come, gather together for the great supper of God, so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, great and small.”
Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse and his army. But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. The rest were killed with the sword coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh.

Right... exactly. This is not an answer.
An answer from Jesus Christ regarding Jesus Christ is not acceptable to you; showing that you are not interested in an answer to the OP, nor can you provide an answer.
Yet you as well are drawn to threads about Jesus like a moth to the flame.

Haven't you said this before? I'm drawn to willful ignorance because it baffles me. I truly cannot understand it.
You answered a question about a mythical character with a quote from said mythical character. So I say again... this is not an answer.

Yes, you are baffled. Yes, you are without understanding.
Insisting that Jesus Christ was a mythical person will ensure that you remain baffled, confused and without understanding.
You cling to your crutch though it fails repeatedly.

So what is this "crutch" that Svend is relying on? The crutch of reason? Most people wouldn't consider that a crutch. I can see how it gets in the way of believers in the supernatural, such as yourself.
Makes more sense to view your supernatural beliefs as a crutch. Without it you don't get to believe that there is some supernatural entity looking after you.

I'm baffled by your lack of humanity. I'm not baffled by your religion... just your willful ignorance. I've said that already though. You choose not to listen.
I only insist upon what is known over what is begged to be believed beyond reason. This crutch you speak of is a projection of your own doubt... something I don't have. I pity you, truly.

It's like saying that a seed dies when it's placed in the ground and that it has absolutely nothing to do with the new life that springs forth from it.
That makes sense only if you view the seed as alive. Which I guess you do.
Scientific illiteracy really holds some people back!

You are asking a question that was answered within the very post you quote.

I became a Christian as an adult and was not raised by Christians.
That is a little puzzling. You'ld think a grown-up would have more sense than to buy into all that during adulthood.
No kidding... I can feel for someone that has to fight the uphill battle of shedding that crap drilled into them as a child, but an adult, willfully partaking of this mythology with that kind of passion? Disgusting.
Thankfully, I was never introduced to the concept of religion or "god" until I was around 13 and by that time, I had enough sense to tell reality from fantasy.

Lack of humanity, Svend?
You believe me to be ignorant and wilfully so.
Is it ignorance that you believe strips a person of humanity?
He asked what the crutch is.
The crutch is clinging to the belief that Jesus Christ is a mythical person.
I was clear, brief and to the point.
No, friend... the crutch is your projection that this jesus character is NOT a mythical person and without that crutch your world would topple down around you. This is why I feel pity for you... because it doesn't have to be that way.

No, it is religiosity that strips a person of their humanity. One can either be religious or a humanist, but the two do not cohabit the same mindset.
So humanists are the only humans who possess humanity; any person holding any religious beliefs are without humanity.
Thank you for expanding that and and in doing so showing that you have no difficulty whatsoever declaring people to be less than human.
The scriptures, which you rail against, do not consider any people to be less than human. It is the declaration of sin that you find disgusting but not the proclamation (by you) that people are less than human due to beliefs that they hold.

Why do you call me "friend"?
You have made it clear that you see me as disgusting, unhuman and something to be pitied.
You would have me go back to the previous decades of my life, if that were possible, as if those years were more desirable that the decades that have followed since my regeneration in Jesus Christ.
Yet you without this regeneration yourself, have nothing to draw upon to compare the two.
But you will not let that stop you.
I have two ways of living to compare alongside each other - you do not, yet appoint yourself some helper that is needed in this area.

That's an excellent and very accurate point. Humanists do not have their humanity compromised by prioritizing, above all humans, something which by definition is NOT human (or even real at all)

Please share something positive, something philosophical, about what made your life more fulfilled; it's origin, how it applied to you, etc...
Right now all you're doing is putting others down; that in itself shows more about you and your insecurities than you realize.

And you are clinging to the belief that Zeus is a mythical person. That is your crutch.
I do not regard Zeus at all.
Any thread in this forum or others about Zeus would not attract me.
A thread about Jesus Christ will attract you immediately and you will respond with a giddy frenzy.
Thoughtfulness of post means nothing to you, as long as your fingers are flying across the keyboard, you will have convinced yourself that you have something of importance to contribute on the subject.
I have responded to you only as this is a thread about Jesus Christ and not about Zeus.

You call it regeneration in Jesus Christ. We call it delusions. Do you know why? Because in reality there is no shred of evidence that Jesus is real or ever existed but you don't seem to have any doubts that he does. Not only that, you claim to know what he wants you to do, how he wants you to act, what are his feelings towards you. Where do you get all that information?

Obviously you are partial to one of the many god myths. Why?
Why is the Christ myth different from the others? It even has the same elements like immaculate conception, martyrdom.

I know precisely why you call it delusion and it is not for the reason you put forth.
In saying I have no doubts about Him, you are correct.
In saying that I know how He wants me to act, what He wants me to do and how He feels about me, you are correct.
My certainty is built on the very foundation that you are now, fingers poised over the keyboard, itching to disregard.
Yet disregard with any shred of honesty, you cannot.
You have nothing of Christ Jesus that you can take or leave.
The once born can do nothing but rail against the twice born.
That is why you are here in this thread.
I make a prediction that sweet won't last in SB. He seems too intelligent to be able to be exposed to what we have to say and maintain his convictions.

Yes am poised, fingers over the keyboard, itching to point out nonsense. That's how we roll in Soapbox. My bad for forgetting to address this in my post.
But you didn't address my question either. How do you know that Jesus exists, how he wants you to act, that he loves you?
