Hello, ive been a member of Model Mayhem for quite sometime now but have not payed for a models services, so im wondering about how the rates work? When I see (100) does that mean hourly? Please enlighten me, thanks
That is probably an hourly rate, but you can always contact her for clarification.
Usually, the best practice is to determine what YOU can afford (example $50-60/hr) and offer that to the llama. She might accept, provide a counteroffer, or decline. If you can't afford to work with her, move on.
Think about it -- I can tell you about rates, but do you think the rates here in Oregon relate well to the rates there in California. More than anything else, rates are dependent upon the local availability of suitable models.
My advice: get to know your local photographic community. Once you know them, you can share information on rates, share references, share resources, share locations, organize meet & greets, and so forth. Ask them about rates -- how much are similar photographers in your area paying? How much do your favorite models charging them? That's better info than what you'll find here on an international forum.
