I choose, from this moment on, to be gay.
FUCK... it isn't working! I guess it isn't.

If it were that easy, and a choice, couldn't one hypothetically make the best of any situation?
"Man this party is such a sausagefest..."
BAM GAYMODE
"Fuck yeah, I like where this party is going."

That despite my best efforts, I like women
A while back, I made the choice to be gay. I kissed a dude. I didn't like it.

They have therapy for that. Oh wait, in CA it is tied up in the courts.

No, I was making a joke. Gay conversion therapy was outlawed in CA. It is now in the courts. I just figured Hetro-conversion therapy might help you with your problem
I mean, if you have decided to be gay but are having difficulties making the transition, I'm sure there is a "therapist" who can help - well, if the courts squash the law, that is.

Do any crime gets you longer than 6 months and there are lots and lots of court appointed "therapists" who will help a person transition to being gay.
Bubba, Big Mike, Randy Ron, Ben Dover... Really lots.

Love the OP. I've tried offering that scenario to homophobes before and it still doesn't get it through to them.
Them: Being gay is a damn choice, you can't be born like that.
Me: Well, look at the other side. I mean, if this were an alternate universe and the norm was to be gay and heterosexuality was the minority and frowned upon by most, could you choose to be with a man?
Them: No, because it's gross!
Me: Well, don't you think they might feel the same way about heterosexuality? If it's a choice, do you think anyone would just choose to be gay in, say...the 1940's? When you could actually be arrested for it or killed for it?
Them: Whatever. It's still wrong.
Sigh.

I was aware this 'conversion therapy' was being outlawed to minors.

They only try to turn kids into Communists. That's why there are Coke vending machines (they're red!) at every high school.

I choose to be semi-straight-ish, because I am so, so in love with my son's father.
Other than that, I choose to be mostly gay.

If your point was that among many species, including ours, individuals practice same-sex sexuality, and thus it is entirely natural, I agree.

Oh, so you weren't comparing not encouraging dogs to leg-hump with not encouraging humans to practice gay sex. Cool!

Not necessarily. While it wouldn't surprise me that there is some biology to it, I think environment plays a massive role in who/what we become attracted to.

Yes, some things. But I doubt that individuals of any species choose their sexual orientation.

I don't think there's any such thing as a gay animal... sometimes they just need some immediate relief... not much choosing or thinking going on in those little animal brains.
