Happy 2013 smile

Here is the way this works:

This is not a drive-by cheapie critique - you have to
put some effort into it and so will I - if your response
is missing information or not germane it will be ignored

First, tell me if you would want to work with me or not

----for the sake of this game, let's not consider logistics, travel, etc.

----If not, you may state why if you like,  or just leave it at that -
----either way, conversation over.

If you would want to work with me,  tell me if

----you would throw yourself at my feet for the opportunity

----you would like to trade and hope for the best

----you would negotiate a very low rate

----you would quote me your standard rates

----you state this any way you want and can add anything as well

in response I will:

----tell you whether I would work with you or not and why

----tell you what sort of content I would shoot with you if yes

----perhaps make a counter-offer if I don't like your terms

Here's a good opportunity for feedback and to practice
negotiation....

and if this is too complicated, pass it by smile

When I end this I will let everyone know and try to catch up with anyone left in the queue

I'd love to work with you. I'd suggest a trade and hope for the best because I'm lacking in dollar bills, so I couldn't pay you :p

Oh I wish I could stretch you 7" in height smile   You have a lovely look and posing for some of my fashion work but I have to deal with the height requirements......

But I would definitely trade with you -  (shhh)  I am pretty easy when I like the model's look....

you've got "no" to nudes so my art book projects would not work.... unless there was some wiggle room there...

I'd suggest some classy glamour work and would pass along a link to your port to my "A" production team and discuss some ideas for some strongly conceptual avant garde fashion looks....

Happy 2013

I would LOVE to work with you, especially on figure art (I'm thinking about taking the jump to nudes). If I had the money I would certainly pay....buuuuut...I'm broke, so trade? Please, pretty please?

I would love to shoot with you, I will propose a trade, but if you want shoot nude I had to ask a very lowbudget negotiable rate. Perhaps we can exchange some beauty, fashion shoots with some nude?

I would love to shoot with you! In a heartbeat. While I have become very accustomed to being paid (and quite handsomely at that), I would consider a TFCD that would include at least ten finished images. I feel the trade would be good for both of us.

I would honestly have to think about it -  if I had a commercial gig that called for a lovely plus sized model I would certainly consider you - but of course the final choice in this instance is usually going to be the client or their advert or art direction people....

As far as figure art -  I think you're lovely - and I really like some of the moods you create with your posing -  but I just don't shoot much of it.  I have a couple of conceptual projects going on that are destined for a coffee table / art book -  but I am being pretty picky about a certain sort of look for these.

Beyond that it is tough to make a decision about shooting nudes with someone when there are no images available to review......

I've had a few models who were considering nudes set up shoots with me, though, to see how they would look and how they would feel about the experience - with the agreement that if they did not like the images we would delete them...

and if we deleted them they would cover my shoot costs (appx 50/hr) - I would definitely offer that.....  it works out to a trade if you decided to use the images.....

btw I do have a port for fashion and art nudes -  MM 2528781 -  just don't update it very often....

I would consider working with you -  I'm thinking out loud here -   There is not really enough in your portfolio to give me a sense of your posing skills....  and you do mention needing direction...   that would normally mean a model development / portfolio shoot -    I normally charge for these at 100/hr  not included bringing in hair / mua / etc..

Every now and then, when I have time,  I do this for a model who is local to me, when I think she may have potential for my work...  this is good business for me because I have sometimes discovered models this way who worked out well - and it's good for my soul,  because I feel as though I am giving something back....

being that you are at a distance I would not normally consider it......  but there is something charming about your profile and some of your expressions in your work.   I spent a good chunk of the evening enjoying a few snifters of Macallan Gran Reserva whilst listening to the German Christmas music of my childhood, and am in a good mood -

so tonight I'd probably say -  come on down -    another day might be a tougher sell.....

If you had only the top two rows of your portfolio I would probably decline -

rows 3 and 4 -  and especially this image

http://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/27723644

have sold me.

I also find that I have somewhat more of a cultural and artistic affinity with European models...

I am getting back into shooting art nudes specifically for a few long term projects, two of which are for publication when done.  I would consider you for one of them.

And I am thinking of taking my work in a much more conceptually driven, avante garde direction in the coming year - in my mind's eye I can see you fitting what I have in mind rather well.....

Also you have read my mind in a way - my standard offer for art nudes is to offer to shoot some content specifically for the model's portfolio in return -

so I would agree -   but I would need you here for two or three days smile

Ah - I wish there was more in your portfolio to inform my decision..... you have good stats for some of the editorial work I am doing so that's a plus....

I would consult with my management team on this one -   and advocate in your favour.... probably it would come down to sharing your port with some of my production team people -  discussing a possible shoot plan and targeted publications.....  again wish we had more images to go on - do you have more images out there on another site?  That would help....

As far as TFCD goes -

on the one hand, if we decided to shoot for publication you would have to wait for images til they hit print or we decided to give up on them -   if they were published you would get the tears and either way all of the images I edited for the submission - that is standard with me....

if you wanted to shoot specifically for port development and quick access to the images -  I have no problem with providing 2-3 finished images per look of my choice - that's pretty routine.  But I do usually charge for this....  moreso if you wanted to make your own image selections....

I'm in an agreeable mood at the moment but I am booked til 29 January....

I would like to work with you because there is something about the style of your work I like; it's more artistic twist on typical fashion. Since I'm not too good with throwing myself at anyone's feet tongue I'll ask for a trade and hope for the best.

Hello!

I would work with you on a TF basis. I think your work is fantastic and i love how your not afraid of tattooed models ( that bodes well for me! big_smile ).

Your work is varied and i think we could come up with a concept that would value both our portfolios.

Happy 2013

If you hit me up far enough in advance to get into my schedule at a convenient time for me (3-4 weeks notice)  I would be happy to trade with you for some self styled fashion and beauty shots for your port.  I'd give you 2-3 hours on a day when I'm already in studio.

I'd be happy to add your look to my port -  if you are comfortable accepting a bit of direction.

you sold me with the lines in this shot
http://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/30772446

and everything about this one
http://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/28674924

If you wanted a hair stylist, mua, etc I have quite a few to recommend but you would have to pick up the expense -  though I do have a developing MUA with a lot of talent who would most likely trade....

Thank you for the compliment-  I am actually planning on taking my work in a very much more artistic and conceptual direction - even my fashion stories....

I would trade with you -

http://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/31146161
smashing face -  I'd love to shoot beauty work with you - even my most picky MUA would sign on

You have hit me at the right time for sure -   I am wanting to shoot more alt and alt / crossover fashion as well as alt / glam -   I'm drawn to interesting hair colours and you have some nice ink...

it would have been a near thing, though, if it were not for this shot

and then there is this wonderful look.....

well - you know you've sold me with the amazing looks I see in your port - your ability to use your expressions and eyes to convey mood so richly and your artistic sensibility.....

the odds and ends of posing we could work on....

I'd have to put my "A" creative team to work coming up with some highly conceptual styling.....    I would want to create fine art with you -

Hi,
I was wondering if you'd like to possibly collaborate for an accessories line catalog/ad and possible editorial?

The concept is 'modern day cowgirl', featuring a boot line based in El Paso, TX...though they frequent our local area for pop-up shops and fashion week(s) http://bootswebsite.com

Wardrobe & wardrobe styling will be provided by a celebrity couture designer, Michael (htgtp://michaelswebsite.com).

Makeup and hair will be done by Allison (http://allisonswebsite.com), who has done my makeup and hair for previous publication & runway opportunities.

The location is in our area, "Location A"...it features an old gas station, diner, barnyard, & the natural beauty of the area. We have interior and exterior access to "Location A".

My height is 5'2" and though I am petite, I have been overly blessed with various project requests. Hopefully my portfolio shows the effort I constantly place in each collaboration.

Please note the following;
Height: 5'2"
Weight: 100lbs
Measurements: 32-25-37
Eyes: green
Hair: black (dyed), long
Blemishes: freckles, scars, and 10 tattoos...all of which can be covered with makeup or edited out, at artists discretion.

Please let me know your rates, as I'm sure you don't do any TF for such large-scale projects.

Thanks so much!
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

............How'd I do?...too much or too little information?

There is never too much information when it's serious business...  you did fine -

I would appreciate knowing every detail you presented.....

there is one issue not covered that in my experience models do not think about because it is not their content domain - image usage licensing and the client's expectations in this regard -

generally a client is going to want a selection of images that are theirs to use pretty much without restriction in their promotions including print and online.

The pricing by the photographer (or the modeling agency) is based in large part on their image usage expectations and whether they want exclusive use of those images -

the last time I had a shoot pretty much like this, the model had a letter in hand from the designer, in this case Westward Bound,  that spelled out their image usage license requirements.

I was not entirely happy with it so some discussion ensued.....  but things were ironed out.  In this case I supplied the hair stylist and mua...

bottom line is that if you find yourself in this sort of situation, your position in dealing with photographers would be stronger if you had something in writing or at least in email from from the client that discussed the particulars of image usage requirements...

and based on the assumption that I was comfortable with these requirements my answer would be yes, and rates - largely dependent on the number and usage of images, would be quoted.....

we photographers and models tend to think that the business is about us -  it's not -  it's about the images....

Hello LizaK -

that is a good way to present a trade offer - and is a sort of ideal outcome.

My answer would be yes -

I'd suggest shooting some serious beauty work -   implied if that was acceptable,  and if not that would be fine.    I would also be interested in shooting some moody and darkly elegant - sort of film noir - fashion with you -  perhaps 40s Coco Chanel.....

and I'd be delighted to hear what you were looking for from the trade -

Any further information, such as the designer choosing edits, the photographer presenting X amount of edits, everyone involved choosing edits, any fees obtained for excess edits (for publication request), ect, is noted on this first draft at the shoot, when signed or the document is later revised and emailed to those involved, with an email returned to confirm said revision(s) ...unless it is possible to obtain a second signature.

....
Am I going overboard and overstepping in being so detailed with my various projects or is this something similar to what you were suggesting?

Thanks again for the critique!

That is more than would actually happen at least in my experience, in the case where a designer was providing couture to a desired model in exchange for usable images  -  they would not care about the details between the model, photographer, production team etc. other than that they were either

a -  given a number of images of the photographer's choice
b-   given the right to select image

both to be done on a timely basis

beyond that it would come down to image usage rights and either retaining or assigning copyright.    that would really be handled between either the photographer and the designer directly,  or between the designer and the model's agency....

now don't get me started on the opposite scenario - a pull letter from a publisher to be tendered by the photographer to a designer......

Understandable. Like I said, each piece is varied to whom it involves.
I change the clients and stipulations to whom it concerns...

The invoice is changed to who is involved, what payment was made, under what circumstance and requirement(s).

The publication authorization pertains and varies to who directly set this up, what publication has rights to the exclusive, ect...

Like I said....those are basic write ups....each varies according to what was agreed upon in conversation and collaborative effort.

Perhaps it's still too deep...but a lot better than nothing, yes? Or do my invoices and authorizations offend artists?

Thanks!

I don't see why thorough documentation on who does what and who gets what should offend anyone -  but I'm sure that there is *someone* out there who would take it poorly lol

And I am also sure that there are photographers (myself included if there are images rights or money involved) who are not going to sign anything without having it reviewed by their management team which includes a lawyer - and lawyers are very picky about how things are written.....

Years ago I worked all throughout the Pacific Rim  -  I've spent a small bit of time in your lovely country.  I really like a lot of the food and have not found a really authentic Indonesian restaurant in my area

we're definitely good smile  and not really because of the delicious food.....

I'd love to work with you.  I really like your work.

I would ASK for trade, expecting a "Sorry, no - here are my rates..." response and I'd likely consider them.   Seeing from your portfolio, you typically work with girls 2"+ taller than me, so I wouldn't be surprised with a response that contained rates.
