Name one book that had a transformative effect on your life.
The book that effected me the most so far in my life was a book called "Mans search for meaning" by Viktor Frankl.
This book made me realize the amazing power of the human spirit. The powerful resources we all have within to stand up against any challange. It renewed my faith in myself and in others. And it made me realize that there are people in this world who have suffered unmerciful and still found the strength to carry on.... no matter what their circumstance. It gave me the courage to face something that I needed to deal with.
My special book is called "Model Mayhem". What makes it so special is that it's a living book; the chapters and pages are constantly being written and updated daily. The character in are weird, funny, perverse, angry, and more. The stories that appear in the various chapters are entertaining. And some these characters are so bad they get to take a time out from time to time. Best of all, it comes with pretty pictures.
And best of all, you can interact with these so called characters. Boy is it ever so life changing.
It's like the story that never ends because there are all sort of different genre's and things to keep your mind wanting more.
Problem is sometimes, the book stops opening and the pages get really sticky and have a hard time flipping pages.
The Guns of August I first read over 15 years ago, & the Iliad, something I first read over 20 years ago, & continue to reread both at least once a year.

Feeling Good - David Burns
The Road Less Traveled - Scott Peck

"On Intelligence" How a New Understanding of the Brain will Lead to the Creation of Truly Intelligent Machines - Jeff Hawkins
THIS made sense - neuroscience is and brain function is one of the great living mysteries - This might be a first step in understanding the edges of it.
For me, it wasn't even a book. It was a magazine article. It was about that spy plane drama we had with China back in the early 2000's, right after I'd joined the miliatary.

Loved John D....love...
Travis McGee and the Busted Flush...
I felt like I knew him
But John D came after the transformative book for me
I the Jury - Mickey Spillane
I was 13 when I read this book
Prior to this, I never even conceived of violence in these terms
Never even conceived of how hard the world could be or how tough a man could be
There is a passage where Mickey Spillane is in a fight with a guy in a bathroom and ends up stabbing him in the balls with an ice pick
That passage was transformative in that it conceptually opened up the possibility of life in such different terms from anything I had ever known or even imagined
The Mickey Spillane in the books is a true bad ass
No movie has ever done him justice
"Ordinary Men" Christopher R. Browning.
About how regular German's became killing machines during WWII.
I finally got it. People make mistakes, but their mistakes do not define who they are. Everyone has the capacity to commit an evil act as well as a good one.
