To Stann Hoyle --

Right now there is an "on going" list for MMers who wish to host models on the General Industry forum. You may want to look at it and ask to have your name placed there.

I have fond memories of cookies at your studio.

Probably because the cookies were surrounded by 7 or 8 naked ladies.

Please ask her to contact me.  If she wants to visit Chicago, I can probably let her stay free.  If photographers in this area want to photograph her, they might also be able to rent one of my studios cheap.

'Probably let her stay free'?
Thought the ad was for free room?

I'll ask her if she would consider Chicago, but she has no snow clothes. I just realized it gets freezing as a mofo there.
My bad.

There is a 3 bedroom apartment above the studio in a building i'm buying in Skokie.  I thought it might be nice if I make those rooms available to female models whether traveling or local.  I think female models might feel comfortable if they know that only females will be staying in the apartment.  I already have another house and studio where I can stay.

I'm still confused about where I should post this topic.

The first time I work with a female model I recommend that she bring an escort (male or female).  I do not recommend fathers, brothers or husbands unless she feels extremely comfortable having them here.  After that it depends on how comfortable she feels working with me.  I would say that more than half of the models I work with prefer not to bring a guy with them.  Many are comfortable with another female.

1. Your profile.
(You can make a note on your profile saying that you can host.)
2. And you can post in the thread that is a lists of hosts .
(Which you already did).

So you already did everything.
This thread here was not needed.

You're done.
Now just wait for the sexy wimmens to roll in, and take their clothes off.

OK, I'll provide free chocolate, tea, coffee, donuts, fruit, trail mix for them and their escorts.  If they have 3 ids saying they are over 21 then I might even provide wine and cheese.

Shes really pretty and shoots nudes.

Noooooo. I could be nude afterward, as it could be her stealing all my belongings, everything including my clothes.    smile

Personally I wouldn't put this on a page for llamas I haven't worked with. Reserve it for people you've worked with at least once. Creepy if they haven't met you yet. It might drive potential llamas away with the mere suggestion. If they know you a little then offer it if they talk about expenses they have. The creepiness goes both ways. You don't know what kind of crazy you might let in. Some nut might burn the place down sell drugs on the side and bring the police in and you loose your place. Too many bad outcomes the risk is too much.

Hahaha, this just sounds creepy to me.

Will the op host an overweight model (not plus size nor curvy) that has absolutely no potential in modeling?

I met a llama who did creepy things once.  I ended up having to promise the other llamas that I would never let her in again.  I also had to promise my assistants that I would screen all future llamas better.  It's sad how one bad llama out of the hundreds I've photographed could cause such a problem.

I have worked with some really nice plus size models.  I am really impressed when a model has a nice personality.

Do you find that models who shoot with you are in some particular danger?

I've hosted about a dozen models.  At least a couple of them more than once, and other than two who didn't decide to stay until the end of the shoot, I'm pretty sure I'd never met any of them before they made the arrangements.

I can't think of why being willing to provide a nice guest room, and having several references from having done so, would scare away potential models.

Geez, this is a simple TFR offer (Time for Room). Why are some of you making it creepy? He's offering a room to stay in in exchange for a shoot. While the model is there, she can book additional shoots with other photographers. Why is this a problem?

its not a problem.
we just questioned his over eagerness.
based on his claimed credentials, he should be having no problem finding models in his network to host.

this thread has gone on longer than it shouldve, but hey: more publicity for him!

Why not just offer room/board to the models with whom you are specifically working?

Using a free room as bait is just... I don't know... it seems creepy to me.

The fuck? How does your mind work? Projection?

You do this, I do that. Bacon included.

Of course they are not in danger.  The reason for the escort is to ease her mind about being in a strange place for the first time.  When models return for additional photos, they sometimes bring other models and sometimes come alone.  It really depends on how they feel about it.  Many of the new models I meet are friends of models I have already photographed.

And, if you're getting these messages, why the need to advertise?

You are correct he should offer it to specific models he is planning on working with.  I didn't find the OP's post to be creepy or intended as "bait."  Seems to me he ISN'T getting these messages and trying to find out HOW to.  Seems to me he has a studio space with an occasional room available and believes this will open up more opportunities for him to work with a wider range of models (in this case females, whom he prefers to shoot with, nothing wrong with this).

*Edit* sorry it's 3 am in ny and been on set for 15 hours. my bad he did say he got messages.  That said not sure if I find it creepy.

If a model needs to crash after a shoot, fine. If I have the space (and he/she isn't creepy) crashing on the couch can be an option. Otherwise, it's a hotel. I don't need (or want) the liability.

respect..I agree who wants to worry about someone tripping over a stinger you might have forgot to put away in your studio when they go use the bathroom in he middle of the night!?  Def. too much liability

Because I want to photograph female models, yet I don't want to take unfair advantage of them.  I have gotten messages in the past from female models looking for a room while they visit Chicago.

I don't understand what you mean "you don't want to take unfair advantage of them, how so?"

I think it would be a fair trade if I can photograph them in exchange for accomadations.

We went from offering a model a room for a visit to the room being offered in exchange for a shoot. If the model refuses to pose, what then? No dice? Does the model know, in advance, that a shoot is expected as compensation?

Doesn't seem to me he was offering up a free room at all in his OP...he was specifically looking for a place where he could advertise to try and secure TF shoots.  Chicago is obv. a huge city and must have tons of amazing photographers that many models might like to work with.   Say a model wants to shoot with photographer A but not photographer B.  Photographer A won't pay the model nor her transportation/accommodations.  Now the model finds a page and sees photographer B has free accommodations in exchange for a shoot.  The model now might change her mind and shoot with him now learning this.

How is this any different then any other barter system that goes on here?   If a clothing designer also takes pics I would presume they would offer up free clothes in exchange of shoot time.
