I had a few photographers want to work with me with paid shoots and they say they set up a mm site just browse through models... and happen to come across mine that capture their attention wanting me to email them back to set the shoot day and I emailed a couple back but I haven't heard reply in a couple days
is that normal?? BC they don't really want any different info than what's on mm ...

A lot of people don't check their pages every day but I'd be surprised if that were the case if this is happening frequently.

One possibility is that you received a lot of responses simply because you're new.  Some photographers send out inquiry letters to all newbies in the area without bothering to read the profiles.  Then when they get replies they check the profiles and simply ignore any that don't fit whatever standard they've set for themselves.  Since you indicate that you only have limited experience and don't shoot nudes but shoot paid assignments only, that's one likely reason.

Photographers like to eat, too, so unless there's a client paying the bills (relatively unlikely when contacting a newbie with limited experience) many are unwilling to pay unless there's at least some element of nudity involved.  Most photographers don't need to pay clothed models, so paid offers for clothed work may very well be scams.

Unless they're asking you to pay them, or offering wildly ridiculous terms such as transporting you to major markets where there are already plenty of experienced models, (always a scam) this may be the case.

But do be careful.  If they don't have checkable references or are not local to you, they are almost certainly scams.

IMHO, as always.

The majority of both photographers and models on this site are not professionals.  It's very common for a photographer to contact a model or a model to contact a photographer and after exchanging a couple of messages the messages stop because they have lost interest.  In some cases there was never any real interest to begin with and messages were sent to see if they could generate a response which would seem to validate the persons credibility.

Be sure to check references if you're dealing with a photographer with an MM page that was set up merely to browse models.  If the photographers portfolio is crap be very cautious.

Other than saying they wanted to set a shoot date did they discuss other relevant details such as location, wardrobe, compensation, release forms, image usage, etc.  If they just said they wanted to set a date for a shoot without discussing anything else relevant I would be very suspicious.

If you want to find out if your current port says you are worth paying, post in the critique forum and ask.

More attention to proper grammar will help you. By the time I read your original post here, my head started spinning.

Not everyone here is native English speaking. She gets her point across, that's all it matters. what else do you expect? Perhaps stop spinning head for picking on people may help you understand a little?

Her bio says she's 'an Arkansas girl.' I know it's in the South, but Jeez.... (that was a joke for those with zero sense of humor).

We obviously have a difference of opinion. You feel as long as a person gets their point across that's fine. I believe a little effort in communication shows respect for another person. Especially when the OP is talking about 'professionalism.'

I know every kid is supposed to get a trophy, so I'll try to lower my expectations.

Also, if these people have MM profiles, you can't out them here. Go to the Help page and use the CAM feature. Please.

I wouldn't waste your time with background checks or research or getting too caught up with names and email addresses. Those all change and whether there is actually a person named Chris Cornell isn't really relevant. Scammers make up names, titles and publications/events...for good reason.

The only constant is that no legitimate job/project will ever be offered to you cold via the internet (MM or otherwise). Photographers may contact you interested in a photo shoot. But no commercial entity, agency or organization is ever going to offer a modeling job because "they saw you on the internet" or are "impressed with your look".

So any offers for commercial you work you get via email are scams...100% of them.

I don't believe you'll have to worry about all the confusion of deciding which 'legit' modeling offers to accept at such an early phase of your modeling career. Relax, let the 'new' and 'paid assignments only' thing wear off, and then ask yourself... 'Why would they pay a newbie like me when there are thousands of seasoned pros out there?' It will all come to you. It just hasn't yet.

I read this the first time you posted it, and yes, I was able to figure out that you were replying to me.

IMHO, a person should be able to disagree with you and still be seen as a professional. And I said the 'south' thing was a joke so you wouldn't take it the wrong way. The fact that you say you have a sense of humor says that you didn't (I think...)
