I sometimes take part in the competiton and a couple of times I couldnt enter a shot because things were poking through the top I wore so I was wondering whether its a good idea to have a separate Topless, Sheer or see-through  POTD!8+.

MM rules are as such and covered by the images you are implying by the rules highlighted below so its 18+ wether covered or not
Mature Images - Defined
The following represent image types that are allowed on Model Mayhem but must be marked "M" by their owners and must follow the Keep Model Mayhem Worksafe rule:

- female nipple or areola

- bare buttocks (thong or not)

- flaccid penises

- pubic area (whether hair is present or not)

- implied sexual activity

- bondage

- depictions of blood

- depictions of violence

- depictions of drug use

- see-through or semi-transparent clothing or body paint which shows any of the above

- profanity

- promiscuous llamas

I think you missed the point. I am not talking about the rules. Please see the top of page for the original post.

Jenny,
We have 2 contests on MM, the PotD18+ for the M/18+ images and PotD for the G-rated images. The dividing line is based on the M/18+ image rules.
There are also many forum based contests that also must observe MM's image rules.

When a model with prominent nipples wears a t-shirt and the nipples stick out in an image, the image is acceptable in the PotD... provided the viewer can not see ANY colouration/pigmentation of the nipple and/or areola.
As soon as colouration/pigmentation is visible then the image is an M/18+ image and must be entered in the PotD18+.

Adding another contest is not practical.

As JoJo has explained sheer or transparent clothing rules it 18+ so the topless contest is covered by the pic of the day18+ contest .
If you examine the contest you will find there is naked aswell as topless or sheer clothing worn on some of the images , that what what my original post referred to regarding the rules . There is an 18+ topless already in place it shares it with full nude contest all in one place .
I personally know how much work a weekly contest takes , not to mention  a daily contest for each individuall section as you would like to see a topless contest.
Its not just having to have a contest run , its getting people there each day to judge, open ,close the contest , check for solicited votes, announce the winner , there is no days of , no holidays, the contest rolls on wether you want it to or not and has to be monitored at all times .
I see where you are coming from in the aspect of this contest , but enter the images in the 18+ contest, total nudes dont always win it , you never know untill you enter .
