I have the opposite issue. I hate shaved armpits on my models But so many of them do it nowadays. I think a guy should look like a guy. And until recently men did not commonly shave their armpits.

Worldwide I'm sure the percentages go up. But here in SI, NYC, I don't know any who don't shave their arm pits or legs. I'm sure in the more liberal areas it's more common though, which is fine.

Armpit beards on women no - on men who have no chest hair yes - women who have chest hair yes! On female Sasquatch yes, because I wouldn't want to be the one to tell it to shave those things before the shoot!

What, you can't believe that not everyone is alike?  Wow.  There are plenty of women who don't shave anything.  And you probably have met someone who doesn't shave...you just might not realize it.

I realized that I have a couple of shots: both 18+

Armpits can be very sexy.  But like anything... you've got to be careful  ;-)

Shaved armpits are fine. With all the constraints on poses here, we're seriously running out of acceptable poses if they're not. However, a close-up with stubble or deodorant clumps isn't going to be on anyone's favorites list. Wait, is deodorant clumpage a fetish?

I have less of a problem with armpits than I do images that display the model's 7-11 feet.

Depends on the pits and the pose.  (Unless the pose is really the pits.)

Maybe, but usually they are older, neo hippies, or extremely liberal. I never said women with leg and armpit hair didn't exist. If you sample enough people, you will find anything, no matter how extreme, odd, or rare. But I do go to the beach very often, an seeing 1,000's of females every year, I have never seem leg hair or arm pit hair.

Then again, location is everything. I go to the Jersey Shore. Probably the grooming capital of the world. smile

I say no. More often than not, when armpits are visible in my photos I feel it detracts from the image.

Armpits are gross and have no place in model photography.

Really? Wow, I'd never heard of this.

However, I did work with a lady who absolutely could not stand to see peoples toes and despised sandals. She said, "if people have to wear sandals why don't they at least put socks on to cover their toes.

This armpit issue is equally as baffling to me.

"gross?" Not to everyone, that is a personal issue I think...

How funny!!

However, pointing elbows to the camera is another rule I violate all the time! Yet, I'm kinda angular, so, what can ya do?

Wow,

This too? Gah. I really thought the entire wax and rip issue was a mainstream American white thing. Sure, who doesn't want to keep things trim but, to get so ocd on body hair...hmmm, I also thought it was a generational thing too, (especially for the under 35 set.

p.s. do you really want to send grammy to the waxer? come on!

The very first nude shoot I did, she had full pubic and armpit hair.  Legs shaved though.

Maybe its because I live in Oregon, but  I know for a fact that SOME ladies look awesome with armpit hair. Its too bad you haven't met them!

Deodorant is a huge no no, but other than that, arm pits are just fine. Stubble is not great...so either shave or don't, whatever your look is....

Honestly it completely depends on what the shot is to be used for

depends, sometimes girls can have vagina armpits (they look like a shaved vagina) when the arm is down and then I say no. Put some sleeves on!

I generally avoid showing the armpits, though I do have a few examples of where I did show them in images.
